The Loafer Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I can appreciate the hard work you're putting in, don't get divorced over it now!!! Thanks again for this, there might not be a lot of fans of the Amiga & CD32 but I certainly am one and I know even aside from those who responded in this thread, there are more that will certainly appreciate your efforts. -------------- (this space available for rent)
SophT Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 espontaneo: most disc based systems are clrmame'd and dat'd over at tosec. It's what I used for Sega CD, and what Lashek is using for DC & Sat, they also have cd32 available: http://toseciso.org/list.php?sys=1&cat=1 dats/cuesheets are available on the main page. I think this is the 'preferred' method of naming when no no-intro is available. FYI - they have akira listed as: Akira (1994)(ICE)[!] so you're probably pretty safe, but it can't hurt to re-audit with a current dat just - in - case... Things I Break ----- System Requirements? How do I remove rom warnings? How do I shut-down my computer? How do I shell HyperSpin?
shaggyoh Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 Where did you upload the videos to. Ive found the Boxs and Wheel images. Thanks for all the hard work man!

espontaneo Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Yeah they have moved servers recently...I can get into the new one (.com) but not the old one....
shaggyoh Posted February 24, 2009 Posted February 24, 2009 I thought the new one was .net i had a old .com one but they switched to .net.
espontaneo Posted February 24, 2009 Author Posted February 24, 2009 Well new accounts are .com so I'd hazard a guess that is the new server....
Fyrecrypts Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Well new accounts are .com so I'd hazard a guess that is the new server.... Strange. The new account I got was .net. I can no longer use my .com account either. Guess I gotta e-mail Circo again. =( Help us crack more .hi files here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?topic=83614.0 HiToText on Sourceforge: https://sourceforge.net/projects/hitotext/
espontaneo Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 From the big man himself .com is the new permanent server....
StarControl Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 OK, it looks like you've gotten far enough that I'm ready to take a look now. Thanks for putting Faery Tale Adventure in! So where is the XML file? I've looked all over hyperion and I'm not finding it. I didn't see it on the Hyperspin FTP site, and it's not on the ftp.emumovies.net site. I'm waiting for Circo to get back to me with ftp.emumovies.com access.
espontaneo Posted February 25, 2009 Author Posted February 25, 2009 Just use xml sydaroa to make an xml from the wheel folder....
StarControl Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 I made an XML and put it up on the Hyperspin FTP in the MISC\Databases\Commodore Amiga directory. The descriptions are cleaned up, but I didn't do the year and manufacturer research. Hopefully this will encourage a few others to take a look at your efforts. Great work! It looks like you put a lot of effort into it!
StarControl Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 I decided to go ahead and research the manufacturer/date/genre information for the XML. I'm about two thirds of the way through it and should finish in a day or two. I'm getting all the info from the Hall Of Light.
StarControl Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 OK. The XML with all the manufacturer/year/genre information is up on the Hyperspin FTP server now. I am unsure of the genre system so that may need changing. What I did was take the genres from Hall of Light. I renamed "Sport and games" to "Sports", "Beat-'em-up" to "Fighter" and "Shoot-'em-up" to "Shooter" to make it a little more compatible with the Mame genres. Multiple genres I separated with a slash. I did not include subgenre information like horizontal , vertical, iso, or 3D. For cases of multiple manufacturers i just picked one. I used the publisher and not the design house. Going through all the game info was like a trip down memory lane for me. I'm really looking forward to spending some time playing the games once I get winuae set up in Hyperspin.
espontaneo Posted February 26, 2009 Author Posted February 26, 2009 I realise this is a community project but I will be producing an xml, with designers, not publishers (that information is pretty irrelevant in this case) like having the publisher on a book and not the author. Besides some games were published by several publishers. It's virtually meaningless. As I continue with the set I won't be manually adding each game to an xml until I have done about 250 games which will cover the vast majority of peoples favourites. That is why I haven't done the xml yet, I still use sydaroa's tool for speed and convenience. It means I don't have to keep track of every game I add as well until that stage. Just be a bit more patient please....your list is already out of date there's plenty of other stuff you could be doing for the project, and have a little consideration that I might be a bit put out by this sort of thing when I'm putting so much work in....I've been doing the amiga whdload since december. Isn't there some kind of etiquette here?
Darkmindz Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 For all the wheels you created so far, i am in the process of making themes for each one even with the little amount of artwork around, im gonna do my best. Photo shop does great things. He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way!
espontaneo Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Darkmindz: I give up debating this one with you. They are gonna be ugly and will take you absolutely ages. Are you planning on doing over 1000 because that's how many there will be eventually....there arn't even an thousand themes for mame and that's the combined efforts of a ton of people for ages... Let me know in 6 months by then there will be ALOT more for you to do Give it up man! Do something else...
fifou Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I tried to get some artworks from Agony to start one Amiga theme to help Darkmindz because I still LOOOOOOOVE and play Amiga games too .... but finding some good quality artworks is a bit difficult .... ! Never mind : let's try one to see if we can use it !!!
espontaneo Posted February 27, 2009 Author Posted February 27, 2009 Is this contagious or something? Read my text: YOU WILL NOT SUCCEED
SophT Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 wheel art + boxes = consoles. Things I Break ----- System Requirements? How do I remove rom warnings? How do I shut-down my computer? How do I shell HyperSpin?
StarControl Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 espontaneo, I in no way meant to offend you. I just needed an XML to look at your excellent work and didn't know where sydaroa's tool was so I made one myself. I thought it might help you and others. You've made it quite clear that it doesn't help you, but I still think it might help others take a quick look at what you've got going on here. I never knew that seeing a need and pitching in was a breech of etiquette. I'd be happy to help you keep the XML updated per your preferred standards if you'd like. If you don't like then this will be my single public effort in the Amiga field and I'll keep my nose out of your business. Have at it. And I do really appreciate all the work you have put into it so far. That said, none of us "owns" any of these systems and if Darkmindz wants to spend his time creating themes for selected Amiga games then I for one will be cheering him on and downloading them, even if he doesn't do 150, 250 or 1000 of them. In my mind they will be very complimentary to the work you have already done. The Amiga was a very special system to a lot of us and it deserves more than one artist no matter how good that one artist is.
Darkmindz Posted February 27, 2009 Posted February 27, 2009 I was thinking of doing 2 themes a day for amiga, spend 3 hours a day on them, 352 days in a year times 2 = 704 themes in one year baby, im doing it. I wont stop even if the themes look a litttle plain im dam well going for it Cheer me on lads yeaaaaaaaa baby. He pulls a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way!
