It sounds and feels like a gear motor :D

If you play for example the "real" addams family pinball you can hear the gear motor when the bookshelf is moving.

most pinball games use a gear motor, so it's a nice add-on when everything else is emulated.

Ok. talked me into it... this software better come out soon... :)

Just had someone close to me send me these. All but the 2 large ones on the top right, but if I need more, he has a few more.

BTW, chris,

How many do you recommend?

I was thinking:

- 2 for the flippers

- 2 for the bumpers above the flippers

- 2 or 3 top

- 2 or 3 middle

You have them attached to the sides of the cabinet? I was thinking maybe I would attach them under the pf LCD (not to the LCD, obviously).

6 sideways and 2 center/middle

I worked on "flaring the LED holes". Need to work on it more, but here how it was before:

After (Hard to tell, but its angles):

Original:

"flared":

Not super noticable, but it does make a difference already... Going to get a better drill bit tomorrow as I believe it would make a big difference...

thoughts?

Hey Chris,

Can you please measure the voltage being pushed out to the leds and solenoids by the led-wiz?

you can connect 500mA max per output

for example: a 12v siemens contactor needs about 350-450mA with a 4 - 5.5 watt consumption.

Hey guys, had a crazy idea...

Can a fourth monitor be added on top of the game to show a 'pinball topper'?

It could have an animated series of pics to simulate interactive lighting on toppers like Addams Family and Whitewater, and just still images for others, but even those could be brought to life if desired.

You could still have these crazy LEDs behind the monitor to give the lighting effect as well.

Just a thought!

yes, the previous afm (ufo shake) and funhouse (hitting rudy) vid. you can't see the effect, you can only feel it... it's a very special feeling that turn into something you don't want to miss anymore.

shaker is active so far at...

tom (rotation box & magna-save magnet & box magnet)

ij (ramp plane/maschinegun & idol rotation & path of adventure)

afm (ufo shake & bank motor & martian attack)

cc (duell & hitting bad guy)

tz (gumball machine & magnets)

taf (bookshelf & thing)

fh (rudy direct hit & rudys hideout)

these "custom shaker mods" are so awesome and not available on the real machines.

I've thought of that... its on my "list" :)

Guys,

I want to see if I can connect real pinball solenoids to the cab. Problem is that the LED-Wiz does not push more than 500mA through to the solenoid, which barely makes a sound on it (it slightly moves).

So I came up with an idea last night, bought some parts today and tried it out.

The solution is a 12V relay that can handle 10A. The LED-Wiz simply flips the relay on and the relay flips the Pinball coil on. this allows me to drive the relay with a small amount of current and then have the real coil use as much current as it needs (currently it is using the same power supply, but I may run a separate powersupply just for the coils.

See the video below. The LED-Wiz is simply turning one LED on/off every second or so. you can hear the relay activate every 1/4 second (listen to the clicking). When I connect the coil to the relay it will fire (you cant miss it in the video... :) ):

I would go for something like this instead of relays: http://www.velleman.eu/distributor/products/view/?id=9071

If your handy with electronics you could build one yourself with part for less then $10 for 4 switches. This is what i am planning to do when the software comes out.

A few questions...

- Why would I go this route over $1 relays?

- The LED-Wiz is not really a switch. Its just a voltage increast. Would that still work?

- Handy with electronics... got a schematic?
