I finally spent the weekend finishing my Type X setup. Almost everything is working, but there's still a few problems with some games. Perhaps someone can help me out?

BlazBlue Calamity Trigger - HL exit shortcut to exit the game doesn't work.

BlazBlue Continuum Shift - Can't open at all. game.exe crashes.

King of Fighters '98 - Can't open at all. game.exe crashes.

KOF - Maximum Impact Regulation A - The game loads fine, but then HL reports an error "There was an error waiting for the window "KOF@MAXIMUM@IMPACT@regulation gAh". Please check you have the correct version emulator installed for this module, followed any notes in the module, and have this emulator working outside your Frontend first. Also turn off Fade to see if you are hiding your problem." and the game exits.

Otomedius - Can't open at all. otomedius.exe crashes.

Samurai Shodown - Edge of Destiny - I'm using a dual monitor setup. The game loading screen (blue) displays on both monitors, then the game loads on the correct primary monitor. As soon as I insert a coin, the game switches to the second monitor and the video on the first monitor freezes.

Shikigami no Shiro III - mouse shows in the middle of the screen.

Spica Adventure - No video or sound. Screen is black.

Taisen Hot Gimmick 5 - HL loading screen times out, game.exe crashes.

Trouble Witches AC - HL exit shortcut to exit the game doesn't work.

Hopefully someone can answer a few of these problems, thanks!

For KOF Max Impact Reg A, you need to set a fadetitle in the PCLauncher module settings for that game. Also, a lot of games won't run unless you disable bluetooth as a prelaunch. You can then enable bluetooth as your postlaunch.

I used the tool djvj provided to find the window class... for KOF Max Impact Reg A it's "KOF丂MAXIMUM丂IMPACT丂regulation 乬A乭" and in the PCLauncher module settings it was "KOF@MAXIMUM@IMPACT@regulation gAh". Changing it allowed the game to launch, but as soon as I insert a coin, game.exe crashes.

I believe the disable and enable bluetooth files were included in Giga's files on the FTP

I believe bluetooth is disabled on my system... so would this still be a possible problem?

It's unlikely to be the problem if your bluetooth is disabled already. Sounds like this might be a job for some of the guys move experienced with TTX

I pm'd Takaji about something else, and mentioned it could be down to having a multi monitor setup.

Just confirmed it was dual monitors that were causing the problem. The following games will crash if you're using dual monitors:

- BlazBlue Continuum Shift

- King of Fighters 98

- Samurai Shodown - Edge of Destiny

- Spica Adventure

Slowly narrowing down the problems... thanks so much guys. Any hints on any of the other issues I mentioned?

I use 2 monitors in extended desktop mode and these games work fine for me.

Well that's strange... when I unplugged my second monitor, those mentioned games didn't crash anymore. I'm also using extended desktop mode. What video card and version of Windows are you running?

I don't know if connersdad is using it, but you could try Game Loader All RH, that may get over the multi monitor issue.

The other problems you have with the fade titles. Try removing them completely and only have the "AppWait" which will be "game.exe". I have just tried it with THG5, a game I don't think you'll ever play unless your into sexed up mahjong. Just talked myself into learning the rules and Japanese ;)

I use double monitors also. I noticed that my second screen doesn't work at some resolutions, but never had problems with the games crashing. Every game launches perfectly and I use batch files for 90% of them. If i were to guess, I'd say it probably isn't related to the dual monitor setup.

Very strange then... I don't know why it would not crash when I remove one monitor from the mix.

gigapig, I tried removing FadeTitle from KOF and Taisen and KOF crashes as soon as I insert a coin. Taisen doesn't load fullscreen and there's a weird green square in the top left of the video.

How can I use Game Loader All RH.exe? I found the files but am unsure what to replace where.

Edit: I should also point out that copying over typex_bindings.bin from a different game doesn't seem to work for Taisen. When I try to use pad_config.exe, the entire window is blank except for Test and Exit buttons.

Your PM mentioned window class errors, the fadetitle or appwait is what Hyperlaunch looks for to see if the game has started, it has nothing to do with coins or green squares, so it obviously worked then if you have a green square and you got as far as inserting coins ;)

You just put the game loader exe in the game folder and run it. The game should start and a new file "TTX.ini" will be created, you can then mess with that file to get things working or working better; you will probably need different config files to set controls.

THG5 is a Mahjong game and has a lot of key bindings, I think you need to use typex_config.exe to remap the keys. Unless you know Japanese and know how to play Mahjong, I wouldn't bother, but I'm sure you want it working.

Posted

Well, I do know Japanese... but I don't play mahjong. And I'm sure none of my friends do either. So I'll save some trouble and just remove it from my system. As for KOF though... still can't get that one working. The alternate game loader doesn't work with it either. I may just drop it too - perhaps it's not worth the effort.

For Otomedius, I get an error screen (in Japanese) in the game that says it can't access the "central server," and I can't continue from there. How did you get it working?

Posted

If you haven't followed my Otomedius guide yet, go have a look at that. You probably need to enter the service menu and turn off e-musement. You'll need an F drive as well.

Posted

Wow, I didn't even know there was an Otomedius guide! It's up an running now... excellent!

Future note to self: Make HS drive as drive F to avoid keeping a USB stick in the computer. :P

I'm down to two issues left with my Type X setup... in BlazBlue Calamity Trigger and Trouble Witches AC, the shortcut keys I've set up in HLHQ to exit an emulator don't seem to catch. I need to manually press Esc to exit them. Did you have this problem with those games?

It really sounds like a fade title issue. Are you sure you using the correct ones?

Posted

Dime333: I'm fairly certain it's not a fade issue. I tried removing the FadeTitle from the two games and the same behaviour occurs. I also used djvj's tool to confirm the window class titles were correct.

gigapig: I use the pause and select buttons on my USB controller to exit emulators. AFAIK, the included pad_config.exe doesn't allow setting multiple keys. I could map it to an unused key on the controller, but then I'd need to remember that those games have a different way of exiting, and then still only I would know.

Takaji: I have put some files in my FTP folder under Taito Type X. Try to use these and see if it works for you. When using these files, you should use "t (61fps) ahk_class Blaz Blue" without the brackets as fade title for BlazBlue Calamity Trigger and no fade title at all for Trouble witches. This works for me. Let me know.

Hey Dime, I can't yet tell if the exit problem is fixed... because after using those files, my controls no longer work for those games. Does using that alternate loader require some alternate key bindings file other than typex_bindings.bin?
