samarmenfilms Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Hey Everyone, I joined here a while back inquiring on help with someone building me a system. I ended up finding someone who provided all systems (that I know of) and 10tb worth of roms and the whole system essentially. I was sent drives with all neccesary data and installed them into a PC that a friend built for me. The guy who gave me the hyperspin and all roms promised service for life (Update of Roms, fixing issues etc). This PC is hooked up to my home theater system and 52" TV in the living room so I can basically do anything in that room. The guy had me put together a list of issues/bugs that I noticed per emulator (Which took forever) Anyways long story short as soon as I completed this list the guys I paid and offered free service for life stopped answering texts and all emails. So basically I am a newbie here without the knowledge of how to program or fix the issues that I have and I am seeking expert help. I basically have 1. Games or whole emulators that don't work 2. Some that controls are messed up or don't function 3. Some that are not widescreen for my TV and some that are 4. No idea what themes there are or if they can change Just keep in mind the job is done by someone else and I'm not an expert here. Can anyone help? Thanks, Sam
progets Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 If you don't know what you have, nobody else will either. How much works 10%, 50%, 90%? My advice is to determine what version or HyperSpin you have and if it's using RocketLauncher. Once you know that you can figure out if you're better off fixing your build or starting from scratch and only leverage the roms and artwork from your build. If your build is more than a year old it will likely be easier to rebuild from a fresh HyperSpin install than to fix all the outdate pieces. If you want help from this forum you should start by answering the following questions: - Where are you located? - What version of Windows are you using? - What version of HyperSpin do you have? (right click on HyperSpin.exe and click Properties--> Details) - Are you using HyperLauncher or RocketLauncher? (search for each of these and see which you have) - What gamepads are you using with the system?
danwelsh Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Personally I'd keep all the Roms and art and start over with hyperspin from scratch......there are good tutorials on here how to set everything up......it'll save you alot of headaches I'm lovin my arcade

wesfranks Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Sorry that happened, Sam. Some people are _____________s.
gigapig Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 Depending on your payment method you should make a claim against the person who sold you the drive if it is not fit for purpose and also contains illegal game Roms and counterfeit software. Maybe then they will listen and if you need to return the drive then make sure you get off it what you need. Then start from scratch as the other guys have suggested.
rastan Posted June 20, 2016 Posted June 20, 2016 the first sign should have been support for life lmao! sorry you got ripped off but the reality is you really didn't get ripped off! you got what you paid for... you really can't expect much from anyone that sells you illegal stuff!!!!! The bright side is you should have tons of roms and hopefully decent media (artwork and all videos, etc) My advice on the emulators is dump them all!! download the emulators yourself and set them up... then download a fresh copy of HYPERSPIN & RL and watch some tutorials on how to set them up or become a paid member here and download one of the builds from the download section. The only pre-configured systems worth anything are CABS or even DESKTOPS that are already setup and working 100%... there is no way a person is going to setup a DRIVE on their system and then sell you that DRIVE and it works straight out the box... way too many issues to get into.

You're only real option is to scrap it and start from scratch. No one here will be able to help sort it out because since you didn't build it you don't know anything about it, how it's set up, which programs, which versions, what settings on and on and on... And you trying to reverse engineer the entire thing would take you much, much longer than just setting it up yourself from scratch. Much of the roms my be OK, but I imagine that most of those will be out of date or need to be replaced as well. I would keep the rom folders for now (until you can determine if they are good or not), delete everything else and start from scratch using Gigapigs build, the guides here in the tutorial section and maybe some of Austins setup video guides.

Can anyone help? Thanks, Sam 1. Games or whole emulators that don't work I think even the people that sell these pre-configured drives make sure the emulators work with the roms.. the problem is most likely on their system it's configured properly and when they sell you the drive your system isn't a match for their setup (could be something as simple as wrong path/drive letter) 2. Some that controls are messed up or don't function That's because you have to setup the controls within the emulators themselves. 3. Some that are not widescreen for my TV and some that are That's because you have to setup the video/resolution setting within the emulators themselves... sometimes that's a lot of trial and error to find out which settings work best for your setup. 4. No idea what themes there are or if they can change Themes are the last thing you need to be worried about right. These people that sell these drives assume the buyer actually knows what they're doing..... I'm sure if an experienced Hyperspin user got one of these drives we could get them running but that's the thing... we all started from scratch so why would buy a drive just to start from scratching going thru everything step by step to get it running.

The only thing I can think of would be to get each emulator working 100% outside of hyperspin... then just download a new copy of Hyperspin and set it up fresh
samarmenfilms Posted June 26, 2016 Author Posted June 26, 2016 Hi There, Here are the following answers to your questions. I have been gone for the past week so sorry for the delay. Is there any way I can get a generous member to teamviewer in and take a look at my setup. All of the controller settings are in, all emulators and all Roms are in and it's functional its simply just messed up. I admit I don't know what I'm doing but I'd like to update and salvage this as this was a considerable investment. Thanks in advance! If you don't know what you have, nobody else will either. Glendale California - What version of Windows are you using? Windows 7 Ultimate - What version of HyperSpin do you have? (right click on HyperSpin.exe and click Properties--> Details) Version 1.3.2.0 - Are you using HyperLauncher or RocketLauncher? (search for each of these and see which you have) Hyperlauncher - What gamepads are you using with the system? Xbox 360 Controllers with Wireless Node attached to PC
Metalzoic Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Anyone? 5 or 6 of us already gave you solid advice and told you what you should do. Keep the roms and start the rest over from scratch. Your HyperSpin is the older version and HyperLaunch isn't supported anymore, it was replaced by RocketLauncher. They probably sold you many other things that are out of date. Trying to reverse engineer what you have could be a nightmare. Much easier and faster to start from the beginning yourself.
gigapig Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 I agree, no one is going to be able to fix it, I doubt anyone knows how to if it's so old. Get your money back by contacting Paypal or your credit card company or contact the seller. Emulation is something you need to understand and know how to fix yourself, you have to learn it. If you don't have the time to do that then perhaps it's not for you. Kind of the PC vs Console argument.
wesfranks Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 If I was perceived as the 6th out of 6, let me join with the others and say- keep the roms, maybe the media files, scrap the rest. Do an up to date HyperSpin/RocketLauncher set up so you can figure out the layout of what you have. This is a hobby to the people around here. It should be both mentally engaging and fun. Suggest you setup only a couple of easy systems, maybe MAME for arcade and NES or SNES for a console. Then play some games for a little while to remember what you originally wanted. Maybe beat a couple of them. Let your friends or family try it. If it is still what you want after that, think about setting up a couple more systems. Update the roms (if necessary) only when you feel you are missing out on something. Most of us end up with a balance of weeding out the games we will never play, while keeping enough of the others so you unexpectedly find that gem that your parents would never buy you. Only the hoarders try to collect everything and trust me, they will never get around to playing most of it. Then again, if you find it interests you, you can always try..... It's up to you.
BATTLEDONKEY Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Check out simply Austin's videos on YouTube. Take the time to watch his his videos on setting up hyperspin and rocketlauncher. They're long but they are very in depth and will get you started. I watched his videos fully and then on the second go around I started setting up my system just pausing the videos and rewinding when needed and I got it working on the first shot. There is also another video titled something about a warning that u will have to update after u followed along the first few videos to get it working (a recent rocketlauncher update changed some things) I guarantee you will get it running after watching his videos, kudos to Simply Austin for great tutorials, I'm a noob to hyperspin and rocketlauncher but thanks to his videos I have come along way already. Nobody will be able to fix what u have not knowing exactly what is going on with ur system and especially if it's so outdated. Salvage what u can, mostly the ROMs and try a fresh start, its daunting, but follow simply Austin's videos and you will get the hang of it quick, and a bonus, he provides some artwork and extras to get you started in the description of his videos. Look him up on YouTube and I guarantee you will get it started, from them on, the community here will be more willing and able to help you out with any questions because you have a better understanding of what your doing and where the problems may be
