guitarman84
Pedestal Super Arcade 100” screen LED Buttons I moved houses and sold my old arcade cabinet. This time I decided to go with a pedestal build. I have built a hyperpin cab and helped friends with some smaller 2 player builds but I wanted to go all out on this so I started with a new design I worked on digitally and then worked from there. This post will show the progression of the design and build: Specs: Computer: Gigabyte mobo Intel I3 16gigs of ram 500 gig ssd paired with 2 Terabyte hdd EVGA GTX 580 card from old PC Running Win 7 AC Infinity cabinet fan and temperature control system with Tstat LED Buttons and Joysticks all custom animated Optoma HD27 Projector 100" Screen Can link with smaller 2 Player arcade controller and 2 Xbox 360 controllers for 8 Player Bomberman Other Details: Step 1: Planning and software Software basically ported everything I had from my old setup on an external HDD Upgraded with adding some new systems and getting rocket launcher Rocket launcher is awesome when I first started with hyperspin with the exception of my Mame artwork I had to manually re-label my entire art video and rom library which took part of my soul now everything is so much easier so big shout out to all these guys Step 2: Construction I used a basically table saw router jig saw circular saw and drill will get you where you need to go I highly recommend lots of large wood clamps and pick up a forstner bit and a step bit For the trackball I needed a hole saw For the sides I clamped the 2 boards together and used a jigsaw to cut them both at the same tim to insure symmetry the rest of the pieces with were square cuts for the base For the CP I cut the plexi and the wood together slowly with a plexi specific bit using the jigsaw Anything I didn’t know I would do a test run cutting plexi, routing for the tmolding drilling buttons etc I did it a few times on a test piece before I worked on the main project Step 3: Finish work graphics and Paint Not much to say take everything apart and spray paint it Put it all back together and apply the vinyl graphics For the vinyl use blue tape to secure it peal up one side and cut the backing off then stick that piece of the vinyl down pull of the blue tape and fold the entire piece back with the exception of the Step 4: Wiring dear god so much wiring Step 5: Finished Playing and debugging What went right: Extremely happy with the overall look and graphics Very happy with the plexiglass since this is my first time really working with plexi Also first time using t molding trim There are no screws that go from the outside of the body in everything is internal (yes I could have used bondo etc) I wanted a perfect smooth surface for the graphics The AC Finity temp sensor and fan control system is awesome I highly recommend that for any cabinet it keeps things nice and cool Things I would have done differently: Include a sub inside the the cab (still might do that down the road) the system uses external in room speakers off of a surround sound receiver so no need but standalone it has no sound The plexiglass has a 16” reveal above the tmolding if sitting in front of the panel and with your hand at just the right angle that can get a little irritating Vinyl that I used to print the graphics was a little thin and not as easy to work with Might have planned to go with smaller wheel casters Want to add an analog flight stick Links to Misc Products I used: Projector: Optoma HD26 Projector guitarman84
Thanks for the positive feedback guys. I added some wiring pics since I always appreciate looking at what everyone else does to manage all the chaos underneath the buttons.
gigapig
Blimey what a super detailed build thread, really enjoyed looking through. You need to get rid of the old HS joystick animations and is your spinner weighted top and bottom? I have the token top which is weighted so I never bothered with the bottom one. Cute children too, they must love it.

Regarding the black buttons next to the temperature control one turns on the LEDs that light up the wiring when the top is up. The other one is a spare for future I was going to do some undecab LEDs later. The star wars game is Battlefront I have the controls for flight mapped to the arcade so you can fly an xwing on the projector. Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I don't think you need both but I really wanted a different topper than what it came with. Never payed attention to the joystick animations how do I go about changing those? Thanks 3 kids keeps this thing used constantly

WinstonArcade
Looks great! I just finished my first build but looking at this, i'm planning on getting some of the External USB ports. I happen to work for an electrical distributor, and i just checked and my company sells the ones you listed for cheaper than Amazon: Neutrik USB ports

boomerps2
I have that identical pedestal design. I love it. Do you happen to have the template design for the sides of the pedestal? I want to change out my artwork. Would love to just create my own artwork on photoshop and have a local business print it for me. Just don't have the template. rynoman03
Wow, this makes me want to build a pedestal for my den even more. Super sweet! I never thought about using surround sound for the audio. I have an old stereo from College with 2 MTX 10" floor speakers powered by a 460watt amp that might work nicely. I see you listed a pc and computer on your cost list twice. Any reason? You don't have exact measurements in a digital format do you? I love your design! Keep up the good work. Those kids have a pretty cool Dad!
