3DO with retroarch

Can someone help me with loading 3DO games in retroarch?

I load retroarch with the 4do core, and when i try to load a 3do image it either does not do anything, or it loads the bios, and takes me to the insert disc screen. I have tried loading an .iso file, and a .cue file. The iso does nothing, the cue does the insert disc screen. I have tried mounting the iso, and cue file with daemon tools, but windows says it can't read the disc, and when i try to load the disc drive in retroarch it can't find anything.

Everything works in the 4do emulator when loading the .cue file.

Am I missing something?

It seems you have everything working, except it just doesn't load the games, have you tried loading the iso file instead the cue? Something I also noticed, I have all 3DO games in iso format, there were some bins I think but I ended up making them iso, probably because the bins weren't working, but worked in iso, it was some time ago though.

I pretty much have the same problem as @maabus, My 3DO roms work well on the 4DO but not in retroarch. As @Aorin said, some of them are iso format and they work on the Retroarch but must of my collection are cue/bin and are in 7z... So I get the 3DO loading screen only, when I boot a game.

I really want to make this work on Retroarch as I like it a lot because of shaders and stuff like that.

Not sure if the order of the extensions make any difference on Rocketlauncher but I just don't know what else to try at the moment.

That's pretty much why I ended up converting them to iso in the end, fortunately I don't want a full set for this system and I had to convert just some games.

lol you had to do that? Poor of me then lol. I think I will look up for a batch because I do want the whole library the I have. If I am not wrong, I have like 60 roms in ISO format and the rest (like 100)  in cue/bin.... all of them in 7z, so I have to unzip them and later zip them back lol, for space saving... what an annoying task.

ufff but I think that could be the way to do it. What tool did you use to convert them?

I think there's a way to use isobuster with a simple batch script, you could search Google or here in the forums, I know that there was a batch for PSX multi bin track games to be merged into a single bin+cue track using isobuster and a batch file.

Yes, a batch would make my life easier. Thanks for the hint, now I have a better idea what to look up, with a combination of those words.

If you find it, post the batch and a simple guide so other users can benefit too.

Although it can be boring, iso buster converts bins to iso so much easily, it literally takes less than 5 seconds for each game, so you can do it as a last resort, by hand.

Sure, I will do so when I get it done.

Edit:

@maabus  I found a topic where they were discussing the exactly same issue we have now. Have a look at it:

RetroArch stops at the Insert Disc screen for Panasonic 3DO

I will give it a try later on, and if it still doesn't work, then I will convert them.

I will come back with my comments.

@thatman84, thanks for the reply, I may look up for that topic on the RA forum, but it looks like I would have to convert them to iso, after seeing everyones replies.

Cool yeah I think that is the outcome. Although I think I was wrong before. I converted a img/sub/Ccd set.

....to iso, right?

I may have the same, I would have to check. Did you use isobuster as well?

I used imgBurn, and Virtual Clone Drive

Loaded up 2 virtual drives at a time to speed up the process. I remeber having to rename every fecking one because it output them to random names built into the disk image. I guess when it was originally dumped

Oh man, that looks like a nightmare. I hope isobuster makes this less annoying as Aorin recommended. I will start from there.

@maabus no problem

The IsoBuster route seems simpler, but I still encourage you to search for a batch file, I just created a simple guide so you can see how simple it is too make your bins become isos.

Using Astal for Saturn as a template, I set cue files to open with IsoBuster, double click it:

1.jpg

Inside IsoBuster, I right click in the CD icon and then...

2.jpg

Hover the mouse over Extract CD <Image> and select RAW (.bin, .iso), Iso should be the standard option when you click on it.

3.jpg

Choose where you want your iso to be saved, save the correct file name, done.

@aorin thanks for taking the time to make the tutorial. I will use it to make the conversion and if I can find a batch, I will post it here.

Nice one, I'll add that if you don't find any batch for that, which I doubt, the conversion process isn't that long as it seems, once you get used to the options and where to click, you'll convert all remaining Bins faster than it seems.

Sounds good. I will work on that Tomorrow. If I feel that looking up for a batch is taking longer, then I better do it with your tutorial. Last time I did that, it took me less time going one by one than looking up for a batch lol

I know the drill, the conversion from multi track bins to single bins and then to PBP for PSX was an effort I won't forget, it led me to an ability I didn't know I had when I had to rename hundreds of PBPs to match the database, I was starting to rename then so fast, no blinking and without looking to the keyboard I thought I was losing my human condition and becoming part of the computer.

I feel you lol, this last weekend I had to rename around 600 PSX roms. 7Z format. Just like you, I found the ability to go over it kind of fast. .... This is where I spent more time looking for a batch and begging to some stupid guys at overstack flow forum to help me out with this, than doing it manually. lol
