Dilated18 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Tried my best to make the title understandable and searchable. Wondering if artwork in SWF hold its original resolution and size? Is the art only shrunk based off of measurment or is it shrunk in all aspect? I look at how the unified megatheme cheated HS by placing a widescreen image on a smaller canvas without losing any resolution to the image itself. Or so I think. If I recall the swf art in the magathemes when extracted was a lot larger them what was seen on the screen. The reason I ask is I see all these awesome new widescreen themes being made and Im concerned that if HS does actually get native resolution then we will be stuck with a bunch of great themes that now look squished. If swf files are only making the image look smaller on screen and the actually file inside is still fully intact then we can easily extract the source art out and adjust the theme. Tx in advance and love all u guy, long time
KlopjerO Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Yes the art will look squished unless the new hyperspin engine has a novel way of recognising old themes. The Swf can store images, dimensions, coordinates, canvas sizes, animation and behavioural scripts. So it takes the original image and it will display them as is instructed by the image properties | My themes / downloads | Get the MS-DOS Wheel sound pack | Get your MS-DOS game themes here | Get the MS-DOS wheel set here | My YouTube channel | WarcrafT - Lord of the clans |ZeroJay's Ultimate DooM archive

With your experience making these types of files, would you say that most people would naturally try to keep the full integrity of the the files stored in the swf or just shrink them till they fit the canvas size? It sounds like swf can present whatever is contained in it anyway you tell it without actually changing the file inside itself and I wonder if people actually do this or if they jus eyball it and shrink till it looks good on their tv screen? Im an idiot when it comes to PS and flash so I hope im making sense here.
dark13 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 A 1080p image into a swf resized to 1024x768 with ratio correction in flash will mantain the original resolution inside the file AND will look better in HS. The downside is you will need more power to run a theme using this method. Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin

dark13 Posted July 28, 2017 Posted July 28, 2017 Yes, check the scripts. Some apply ratio correction, some does not. If you want a precise size just open the jsfl with notepad, you can set the resolution of the file directly, save the file and run it.
