Hi dazz , this app still being developed , of course !

i've tested successfully links at

http://r0man0.free.fr/

and all is ok.

Application is in the download / mame section.

Sorry for the advertising steps for the download but it is necessary because there was too few donations for the content and applications that I develop.

r0man0

Yeah, I can't even figure out how to weed through the advertising crap to even get to a download link...

Hi, Been using this for my MAME XMLs since it's creation and love it, thanks r0man0 for the application.
However, is there a way to get this running with HBMAME? In that past I've created my HBMAME XMLs manually from the .dat, takes ages deleting all of the unnecessary lines from the XML. Would be great if your XML generator let you use HBMAME with it too. Trying to use HBMAME64.exe returns, "ERROR - WORNG MAME EXECUTABLE".

Actually there is only executable name : mame.exe & mame64.exe that allow application extracting rom list. To get it working just rename exécutable.

But catver.ini from progettosnaps website IS for official Mame exécutable. All additional rom hack,etc.. will not been shown on generated lists.

Thé only way to do that IS to generate lists from extracted data base, in this case , all additional hacked games will not contains genre, players, and data from ini files from progettosnaps.

But i will add an option to choose génération method soon.

Hi, r0man0, So I tried this the first time today, I got Mame .222 from Mame Dev and I "think" I set everything up correctly, however it said I had the wrong catver (.221) in the debug window and I think it said it auto-downloaded it, which I assume .222?. I have .221 xml from the official XML thread here in the forums, and when I created the .222 xml (full) and replaced the .221 xml and placed it in the database folder, then loaded HS, it made some games in the wrong order. You know when you hold down (right) and it pops up a letter then you can go to the letter of your choice then hit enter to go to say the "S" but it would load "P" or list a few titles out of order alphabetically. What did I do wrong? is it because of the catver.ini being .221? Thanks for any help.

Hi Gothicplsur , Mame XMLfull list generator doesn't add an index for aphabetical order to generated xml , you have to uncheck use xml index into hyperhq.exe (wheel settings->Your Mame item->Navigation/Theme) ,

when this option is unchecked hyperspin auto-sort alphabetically the generated xml with no indexes.

Catver is auto-downloaded from http://www.progettosnaps.net/catver/

and updates are not by me, so you have to wait the last release from this website

Hi r0man0,
Thank you for this fantastic generator.
Is it possible to incorporate an extra option to create the (genre) lists based on the vertical or horizontal games?
Pieter Hulshof had these xml lists on his retrofe site but these arent up-to-date anymore.
Would be great if I can create them again, because HyperSpeech can switch between horizontal or vertical genre databases.

Regards,

Boogieman

Ha ok,

Thanks... I fiddled with the Screens option, which gave me 5 different resolution xml's, a genre.xml and vertical and horizontal xml.
Very nice, however it does not fulfill my database creation needs at the moment.
I need the output generated by the list creator of P. Hulshof, who creates MAME lists for Retro-FE.
I am looking for someone that can compile his c++ code "create_mame_xml.cpp" into a standalone executable.
The code is included in the zip package from retrofe.nl/Download/XML/MAME 0.221 XML.zip

Hi looked at this and it works great. I see that all of the filtered lists are named the same....genre.xml. How are you supposed to use these in hyperspin? Do you rename them and add them to the main genre.xml? Thanks

Hi potts43 the option "filtered lists" IS to exclude unchecked lists from generated lists. For example if you uncheck genre "Pinball" you will get a generated lists  "mame.xml" without Pinball games , and also "1 player.xml",year ,manufacturer,...(all lists checked) without Pinball games.

The "genre.xml" included into generated lists folder,IS to specify to hyperspin all genres that Can be listed through hyperspin front-end. If you want to add more lists than the genre.xml file have, you have to edit genre.file, and add New Line with the name of the list to add. Genre.xml must not been renamed, otherwise hyperspin will skip the genre lists. Last point : all XML files listed into "genre.xml" must be placed into your system databases folder example:

hyperspin/databases/Mame/Mame.xml

Hyperspin/databases/Mame/genre.xml

If you have Capcom or Pinball listed into genre.xml you placed files here:

Hyperspin/databases/Mame/capcom.xml

Hyperspin/databases/Mame/Pinball.xml

R0man0,
Thanks for replying. However, I had already tried what you suggested by adding them to the genre.xml. I have my hyperspin set to single system at the moment though I have 71 setup. Upon clicking one of the added extras in genre it kicks me out of the single system menu right back to a full menu of 71 systems.

Can I ask if you are meant to change the manufacturers genre.xml to manufacturers.xml and add that to the standard genre.xml or do you add the list of manufacturers to the standard genre.xml.

Hope that makes sense.
Jase

Ok i understand , maybe there's an issue with the generator, Can you submit me the files XML that kick you to menu in order to check them ?

R0MAN0

Edit : rename the genre.xml to manufacturers.xml will not solve this issue. That may be an xml syntax error

I added some of the extras directly to the genre.xml and they work fine. I was thinking of there being a tree structure.

Select genre. Then select manufacturers genre then pick the desired manufacturer but that errors out. If I add the individual manufacturers to the standard genre.xml they work

There s not tree structure , folders from generated lists are organized to be more "readable" , but hyperspin not allow three structure : only 1 view for main list and 1 view for sub lists (genre) , but a tool exist to create tree structure into hyperspin , i don't remember the name sorry...

Morning,

I think I may have found a glitch. I know that there should be a game coronation street in quiz genre. But using your program it had 60 working games in the quiz genre but included it in the main mame xml. I tried dons tool using the same master xml and it put 200 quiz games in the quiz genre. I'm not sure why there is such a massive difference as I'm using the same master mame xml and splitting parameters.

hi potts43, I've checked my generated lists (0.232)  , and for working games there's 221 entries for genre quiz , maybe your generated lists have been filtered ?
