SOLVED - Bezel Newbie - Throwing myself on your mercy ... Help please?

Good day all ..... So I want to incorporate Bezels into the build I am doing and quite honestly find myself a bit lost. I'm running HS with RL and watched Giga's tutorial, but somehow don't feel like I am following. Perhaps I'm a bit dense but I was assuming Hyperlaunch should be interpreted as my RL, but I do not have a Media directory structure that includes systems and Bezels (that seems to exist in HS itself).

By chance is there a guide available that I can read to walk though the process? I've gone through what I believed were the right steps, and for initial files I downloaded the Circo MAME bezel set from EmuMovies. If not, can someone point me to a resource or more recent tutorial that walks through this?

Thanks in advance ... Now back to my scotch .... Cheers

Hi Jimmi, IMO hyperlaunch should not be used. It hasnt been updated in years! Not sure it can handle bezels... or fade in/out screens... pause media.

Is there a specific reason why you dont use RL??? It is the natural successor and very similar in usage. It will also auto update itself so it will continue to be compatible with all the newest emu versions/features.

About bezel usage: there is typically 3 programs that utilize them. Each with thier own format. That is Mame, RL, and Retroarch (if you use it). Mame game bezels can be found around here in both Mame and RL formats. Default bezels for other systems (nes, gba, etc) can be in RL or Retroarch formats. So just try to be aware for what program you are downloading.

If you are using Rocketlaucher then all the folders you need should be in the Rocketlaucher\media\bezels folder.

If you grabbed metalzoics pack from the Emumovies ftp then you may need to exact them if they are zipped\archived.

1.- To add bezels through RL just add them here:  D:\RocketLauncher\Media\Bezels\[System_Name]\_Default\

(Or wherever you have RocketLauncher folder)

Bezels must start with work Bezel to work and must have an .ini file with the coordinates.

2.- Then you need to enable them on RocketLauncher UI:

GLOBAL > Settings > Bezel > Enabled = True

or do it per system.

If you want a default bezels pack you can download mine here:

And here for handheld systems:

Hey Spawk ... I think we got our wires crossed. I am using a current build with HS and RL. I was noting that in Giga's tutorial he is using the Hyperlauncher terminology and I was assuming that meant RL in a current build.

Thanks for chiming in though :nyam2:

For some reason the media directory structure does not include a bezel's folder, but I'll create it as Ci2 is showing me in the next response. Thx

Ill be in front of my build a little later today and will try and walk through this step by step and see if it works as I hope. Thanks for the detail and I'll let everyone know shortly. Thanks a ton ...

UPDATE - So I re-downloaded the standard RL Media Starter Pack as well as the Unified Bezel Pack from Ci2 and used it to make sure the directory structure and content were all correct and have Bezels working :good:

I've also pulled down some game specific bezel creations and been able to start getting specific games set up to use their own game art rather than the defaults so another small victory.

I'm sure I'll have more advanced questions later as I try and figure out some of the interesting "wrap" bezels I've seen that would require some placement and standard resolution changes, but I'm going to move on to more pressing matters for now. Once everything within MAME through RL and HS are working flawlessly I'm going to move on to each of the consoles until I've got functionality in each of those. Retroarch will be my headache to figure out then (specifically CD based systems and bios placement) and figuring out how to deal with the mess_libretro.dll error I get under several systems ....

But for now, thank you all .... everyone has been fabulous so far and once I get my build complete I'll lay out the final results and then start digging into how else to contribute to the forum ....
