The HyperSpin 2 early access beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Newest Windows 10 update (1803) breaks Hyperspin & Hyper HQ

It’s all good usually these things happen when Microsoft decides to put an update out which you can’t control. We do appreciate the effort you guys are doing as well to trying to find a solution

Hey Devs, does HS use any bits of chrome/chromium?  Could this be related:

https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/05/04/windows_update_chrome/

Specifically:

"...the problem is limited to those using the latest Windows 10 (version 1803) with Intel Kabylake (HD 620 and 630) chips.

In addition to Chrome misbehavior, there are also reports that Electron apps like Slack, which rely on an embedded version of Chromium, are crashing. Also, several users have reported Firefox problems after the Windows 10 update as well.

This has led to speculation that the bug may have something to do with how Windows interacts with ANGLE, a Google-developed graphics engine abstraction layer used by Chrome and Firefox to run WebGL content on Windows devices by translating OpenGL calls to Direct3D.

Those investigating the issue have observed that crashes no longer occur when the --disable-direct-composition flag is set. They also report that the problem isn't present in the latest Canary build of Chrome.

Turning off hardware acceleration in Chrome fixes the issue for some."

Just to note, the 1803 update has impacted my companies POS (Point of Sale) Mitchell 1 Shop Key (Automotive Repair POS) and the software company has issued an update and the cause was related to changes in .NET files.   - it has been a fun Friday as we had to update over 60 machines with their (Mitchell 1) fix.

UPDATE:

We've come up with a possible solution that's going through dev testing tonight. I'll report back here on progress as we go. But we hope to have this clearing up shortly.

Good News is I have tested out HyperMarquee and EDS with LB and BB and is working on the 1803 update-so those programs should be ok to work once HS is back up and running.

Also the HyperTheme and HyperHQ needs to be fixed as well which I am sure you guys are well aware too just wanted to make sure we didn’t forget about them as well.

Fantastic news! If it doesn't reveal anything important on the Hyperspin side, will you document what the problem was so we can learn from it? I am finding a few other apps having the same issue and it would help sending info to other developers what might be causing their app from working.

I would love to help any developer that runs into any issues with 1803. Unfortunately, the issue we fixed is extremely specific to Hyperspin and the core it was built on. It's not really something that would help others.
