Hello,

First time posting here. I just got into retro arcade gaming and bought a hyperspin 256gb card from ****removed name*****. I have never used a Raspberry PI 3 before and messed something up in the settings and now all I can do is scroll between games. I cannot change the controlor settings or select anything. When I try to configure something nothing happens. I am unable to select anything to change the controls. Please help me!!! I watched how to change the controls on gameroom solutions but that is if its on windows I am running it right off the micro sd 256gb card so I cannot change anything!

Thanks!

How do these drive sellers stay in biz? It’s crazy to me.

Because people are either lazy and don't want to put the effort in to learn and do it themselves. Alternatively people can be incredibly busy and not have the time to dedicate to the hobby.

Either way they're screwed when things go wrong, which will always happen no matter what platform they're using.

I do have sympathy for people who get "ripped off" paying for these setups. It's the leeches who demand something for nothing that grind my gears.

Any who, back on topic. My advice to the OP would be to ditch the RPI and buy a Shield TV, the sd card can be reused with a USB adapter.

I've got a lot of experience with RPI's, they're ball ache. The STV has more grunt so can handle the N64, even Gamecube and some Wii games are possible. IMHO working with the STV is far easier.

We have a pretty good community for Android users here. We're always happy to help new members get up and going

Also Hyperspin only runs on PC or Android.....for Pi you have something completely different.

Strictly speaking that's true. However Retro pie can "borrow" heavily from Hyperspin assets.

If the OP thinks they have Hyperspin, I'd wager they have attract mode running on top of Retro Pie. I think it's sometimes known as HyperPie.

For Motion Blue which is often used with Attract mode, David Marti converted the Hyperspin xml files to be compatible with Retro Pie. So it shouldn't be difficult for the OP to transition to Hyperspin...They just need the Shield TV instead of the RPI

consider your money lost

and if you are running a PI

you are not running Hypespin

you should go to the retropie forums and ask or help their

like this forum they don't support purchased systems,  they are going to ask you to start from a clean retropie build.

if you think your drive is ruined

you can either buy a new card,  or use your google powers to find and download a new one.  their are hundreds to choose from if you know where to look.

and don't bother asking me where to find one

I built mine from the ground up using Hyperspin themes

@32assassin

That's a great video to demonstrate what I was talking about. It's not Hyperspin but the average Joe would be hard pressed to tell the difference.

Fine job on your RPI build

I think the OP has lots of great info from us lot to ponder for now. So let’s wait for a reply before we digress any further.

:)

Who died and made you admin? ;)

I agree we need to hear more from the OP. I don't think the card is ruined, the assets could well be recovered.

I look forward to hearing more and us possibly gaining a new member to our Android Hyperspin family :)

that car is not ruined,

more then likely it can be recovered by resetting the controls

but for that you need to connect to your PI via SSH ( I use a FTP client Filezilla to do this) , and delete the controller config file.

this way on the next boot up,  the controller config menu will pop up. You will have to be in the emulation station menu for this to happen.

but given by the fact that the op bought the card, I find it hard to believe he is capable of doing any of this.
