sanchezmike01
Basically updating the uninformed about systems for android that arent mentioned or talked about...super gameboy now works on android...it loads with colors and the built in bezels and plays perfectly as it does on the pc....atomiswave and naomi also work on android .....most games load and work using the lastest reicast core in retroarch...if u get an error about machine settings, basically u gotta enable service buttons then go to system settings and change screen from vertical to horizontal...then exit out and go to retroarch options and change it to horizontal and disable service buttons and save the game option file...game will now load and play....lastly msdos....tons of work has been done recently for dosbox-svn and a new dosbox 3dglide for retroarch android...I can honestly say it is by far the hardest or labor intensive wheel to setup for android........took me about 3months on and off to extract each game and write a conf file for every game to launch from the android wheel....also u have to set up the controls for each game which means either reading the manuals or pressing all buttons on a keyboard to figure the controls out...finished that wheel with 480 games...I'll post videos soon but any questions on a how to just ask here
mikty
I thanks for you. but for reicast, Since august 2018, the core become slower than before. I can't run any game at normal speed on shield tv. do you encounter this behaviour ? thanks
sanchezmike01
I havent played too much with it but I shall check....just in case I always keep copies of older cores for this same reason...I know virtua nba and tennis2 did run a bit slow...and a few games for dreamcast I tried were fullspeed...what games did u try that ran slower than b4?....also try 2 follow thatmans guide on how to import cores with xxamp ....that's how u can import cores to the shield without root access.....basically what I do is change the cores download location on my android phone and then I download cores to the download folder....once u restart retroarch on the phone the cores location will go back to default in hidden section ....then I transfer the downloaded cores to the PC to import then to the shield
mikty
hi, I just test to games crazy taxi and sonic adventure. atomiswave run fine 3 month ago and now is laggy. I have rooted my shield and before the last update I could inject old cores on the core folder using network and xplorer but since the last update, former cores doesn't been reconized by retroarch. do you manage to inject and use former core with succes on the last update on shield tv ? thanks

mikty
OK thanks I have ever test with thatmans guide on how to import cores with xxamp with success but the older cores still not reconized in retroarch, only the last is functionning. sanchezmike01
Old cores will work if imported properly...they need to be zipped and named properly in the special file that android looks for when u open the download cores option....the key is u MUST follow the guide as written....I have a folder named retroarch then inside that I have all the cores zipped and named proper like this...reicast_libretro_android.so.zip.....in the file it needs to be written the same and the other info like date and some type of generic code u can copy the ones from the previous core... mikty
Ah ok, I forgot to zip them before import them. Maybe it's that problem thanks I will test this week end Regards
zerojay
Uh... is there some reason you guys aren't using the Core downloader built into Retroarch? No need to "import" anything, no need to worry about permissions, etc...

No need to "import" anything, no need to worry about permissions, etc... They want to use an older version of a core. For example, I had the test core for Daphne long before it was added to the official build bot. It worked very well. When it was officially released on the buildbot, the core was actually broken. So my Daphne wheel is now out of order. To fix it, I could faff around to install the test core again. I'll just wait for them to fix official core though. sanchezmike01
Exactly like stated above...sometimes cores break during a new update so this way I keep a working copy just in case...like daphne, I still have the old working core...and Atari st doesnt work with android oreo but hataroid emulator standalone does...I think dosbox-svn also broke for android during a recent update but I still got and use older version
zerojay
Thanks for the explanation. If I could get that Daphne test core, I would really appreciate it.
