Dogway Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Hello, I made a button legend mapped to 360 pad colors. I was inspired by but the graphic is much better than that in my opinion. The problem I have is that IIRC the graphic must be converted to a flash video.I did that once many years ago with after effects, but it is really a pain to now install after effects back again and remember how to do it. I would appreciate if anyone wants to help me finish the thing. Then, I will release for public on FTP. I think it should substitute the files SpecialB1.swf and SpecialB2.swf of the Main Menu media folder, adding the buttons where press start or free play is on the right side.
teacworms Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I would love this in my HS setup. Unfortunately I'm no help besides cheering you on.
Dogway Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 Now that I observed the guy removed the press start and free play graphics so it makes space for the button legend on the center and doesn't get overlook with the colorful wheels, and the joystick graphic goes to the far left, with side sliding instead of coming from bottom.
Styphelus Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 He just replaced the SWF files. I did something similar with mine but it shows my gamepad buttons. Mine is not animated however. I just created images in photoshop and exported them to flash. They show up at the bottom so the wife has some guidance on which buttons to press. She always gets confused.

Yes, that's what I said, they are flash videos, I only need someone to animate it. I know it's easy, if you are into after effects.
Dogway Posted June 10, 2014 Author Posted June 10, 2014 I finally got the hang of it. Animation is not needed, you simply go to HyperHQ and set where it pops up from and other things. I used an online swf converter for the image, and a program called swftools, but the image doesn't show, something must be wrong, to start with png transparency is not passed along. Styphelus, or any other guy with recent Photoshop versions, would you be kind enough to render the image to swf?
Dogway Posted June 11, 2014 Author Posted June 11, 2014 Adobe flash sounds like your monthly flash player update... Adobe Flash Professional I guess.

Using Adobe Flash now, it seems the problem is that HyperSpin wants the flash to be ActionScripts 3 compliant. I finally managed to make the button, since no one helped me on this and other questions (I have like other 6 open questions), I will only upload it if someone tells me how to avoid the ugly image scaling, it happens for example with the "press start" or "free play" movies, but not for the stick movies "press forward" etc.

Actually, I think this should be a new rule. If you don't help someone with whatever issue they have, you get blacklisted. We should start with applying that rule to you, so basically you will be excluded from every single piece of content that did not require your help. How do you fell about that?

I'm not blacklisting anyone, I'm doing what many people do around here, not sharing their knowledge/content. I believe in community, not on giving away things without even a thanks. Besides gigapig I have got very little help here, and my bold guess is that I have been marked as blacklisted by some of the most active/helpful guys simply because I like to tweak modules. Anyway, it's easier for you to get into the community and help than come to me with that attitude. I will also allow another way to share my content through donations. I'm making a new version 2 video.
jeepguy81 Posted June 28, 2014 Posted June 28, 2014 Is the frustration that no one finished the work for you, or you had to figure it out by trial and error. Hate to tell ya but trial and error is how allot of things on here have been figured out. I may be worn but the scaling has to do with HS native resolution setting. Native @ 1024x768 and no way to alter it. At least the is my 2c. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
Dogway Posted June 28, 2014 Author Posted June 28, 2014 It's the fact that I get more response on non sense topics like the one we are discussing than my 6, 7 or 8 question without feedback. I'm used to tweak and solve things by myself as you can judge by my signature HyperSpin video and my autoresponse to questions after a few weeks, I create content, but I'm not as fool to spend 2 days on one thing when I can solve it in a few minutes asking. Scaling is not a problem on HS, it's the that they (seem to) use nearest neighbor algo.
Dogway Posted July 20, 2014 Author Posted July 20, 2014 Update to notify I finished it here. I was helped so I finally uploaded, and to my surprise so very few people liked it (one thanks over 17 downloads) so I think I won't upload the refined version.

It is usual people forget to thank. There is so much stuff around here, I do not think everybody has been thanked. But every contribution is always appreciated, even if no thanks is there. Right now I'm not going to download your mod, 'cause I do not need it. But thanks for doing it.
Pyramid_Head Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Very cool man thanks! Can you put up a video of it in action?
Dogway Posted July 21, 2014 Author Posted July 21, 2014 Yes, it's on my signature. Soon I will be releasing a version 3 video with many more changes. I changed the buttons and battop positions as well so they don't block game titles.
SIMPLYAUSTIN Posted July 21, 2014 Posted July 21, 2014 Thanks for this Dogway, some great work! I cannot use this as it does not fit with my themes. However I love the idea and have been after something like this for some time. As my system runs on XBOX360Pads I want to keep it more clean, maybe use a 360 stick and the buttons. Keep the animation exactly the same, just changing the images, I can do that no problem in PS. Then its just learning FLASH Also there wouldnt be any problems fixing this to where the right have PRESS START message is, just to keep it all tidy?? Simply Austin's YouTube
Dogway Posted July 22, 2014 Author Posted July 22, 2014 Thanks for compliments. I dabbled with some designs, some containing the original 360 pad buttons. But I didn't quite like it since the "arcade feel" was lost. I think this color coded button legend works well for a 360 pad and also for a cabinet where someone decides to color code his buttons. zero dreams has a project that you might probably like more. Currently I have placed the buttons on the right as you say, and press start at the left. And also made a custom one for the main wheel with only the two buttons available (Enter, Back), I will show this on my next video, I will announce here don't worry.
Polemicist Posted July 22, 2014 Posted July 22, 2014 I think I may have helped you from time to time Dogway. There is a huge amount of work on this site. Not everyone will say thanks. As time goes on and people start to understand the community spirit here they start hitting that thanks button a lot more. I'll admit I have gotten a lot of thanks and poured countless hours into helping people and it does put a smile on your face to see that some old post you made ages ago is still popular and still getting thanked. When you bury content in other posts people find it by chance most times so anything shared in always prefer to see it in a thread of its own unless it is directly related to the topic and even then I'd consider making a secondary post and point people from the original source to the shared content. Just my two cents.
