Its the sxs.dll file... it got updated in the system32 folder... Which doesnt work with hyperspin.

Needs to be replaced... but you cant just update the folder manually with the file as its protected.

I've always placed the (compatible) sxx.dll file in the HyperSpin directory.  Is that fix no longer working?

They have released a windows 11 iot ltsc 24h2 but i don't know if hyperspin works on that version yet so i hope someone can test it as it might not have those updates in that break it.  I'm on windows 11 pro & can't  uninstall KB5055523 so how can i uninstall it as in my uninstall updates it's not listed to uninstall. That's why i was wondering if windows 11 iot ltsc 24h2 works & doesn't install that update as it's release was october 2024 & i think you don't get anymore cumulative updates which broke hypersin.

@Agard

From the Windows icon, press and hold the Shift key while clicking Restart.

In the Windows Recovery Options menu, click Troubleshoot, and then click Advanced Options.

Click "Uninstall updates", and click "Uninstall latest quality update".

Hopefully that works for you.

@jh79   jesfknkrys is the 1 to ask I haven't tried yet myself as been downloading for days & don't want to stop it. 300GB left but will post here if it doesn't work

@jh79It seems like there's a few users unable to uninstall update KB5055523.  I will try to reinstall the update to check if I get the same result of being unable to uninstall it.

Meanwhile try the following  to uninstall:

  1. Open Command prompt as an administrator.
  2. copy the line below and press "Enter"

wusa /uninstall /kb:5055523

Status:

I just updated to KB5055523 and it does give me the option to uninstall.

Edition    Windows 11 Pro
Version    24H2
Installed on    ‎4/‎30/‎2025
OS build    26100.3775
Experience    Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.66.0

The bottom screenshot is the update history and Hyperspin is not working. None of the two updates show up there. I downloaded Windows 11 from Microsoft's Web page. The update is probably already in that version, so I guess I'm fucked. I remember there was an older fix before to make Hyperspin work with Windows 11. I don't need that now, do I?

It could be that you selected to downloaded the updates when you initially installed a Fresh copy of Windows.  I installed the updates one at a time inside Windows.

Try this in Command Line as an administrator: Replace "5055523" with the update you would like removed.  The example below is to remove "KB5055523"

wusa /uninstall /kb:5055523

I reinstalled Windows and blocked 5055523. For the last few days, Windows has been saying that KB5055627 is available, but it has not been autoinstalled. So it seems to be good for now. If it will be installed eventually, I can just uninstall it. At least I could do that the last time. It's just a shame that it can't be blocked.

What I want to know will 25h2 fix it when available to all but I got a friend who has all the updates & hyperspin still works so why does it work for some & not others?

@jesfknkrys

Thanks for helping,

I did have an option to uninstall it but after I hit uninstall it goes about  20% and quits.

Did you actually go through with the uninstall, if so did it uninstall completely? If it does uninstall completely on yours and not mine maybe it's because mine doesn't have anything to revert to? Like missing files or something?

I will try those commands you suggested ASAP and report back...

@jh79 Try checking for Windows corrupted files first.

In an elevated command type the below from line 1 and wait for it to complete.  Then try uninstalling the update using the command on line 2.  If it doesn’t work we can try repairing your Windows files using DISM commands.  Let us know your result.

1. sfc /scannow

2. wusa /uninstall /kb:5055523

@AgardI’m not sure if 25h2 would fix the issues.  It’s something we would have to test once available.

Can you confirm that he does have the problematic updates installed?  Also, what version(education, home, pro, enterprise, lot enterprise) of Windows 11 and build is he on?

I was able to uninstall kb:5055523 and get my Hyperspin working again.

The only thing that worked for me was right click Start on your taskbar and click System. Then click System again in the top left menu. Look for Recovery in the middle panel and click "Fix Problems using Windows Update".  Click Reinstall Now.

Just let it do it's thing and reboot when asked. I was able to delete kb:5055523 and get HS working.

I'm going to try and hide it now with that tool jesfknkrys suggested, thanks for that 👍 hope this helps someone cuz that sucked.

You can also do this to disable Windows Updates:

2. Disabling Automatic Updates (Permanent):
  • Method 1: Using Services:
    • Open Run dialog (Windows Key + R) and type services.msc.

    • Find "Windows Update" in the list, right-click, and select "Properties".

    • Change the Startup type to "Disabled" and click "Stop" if it's running.

    • Apply the changes and click OK.

Posting a comment here, I'm having this issue just recently after some updates applied. I have tried searching for 5055523 to remove as previous suggestions have recommended doing so. I don't see that update installed at all, but still my Hyperspin, I can see it launch in task manager and close immediately. I've tried removing other updates, but nothing has worked thus far.

I have all the updates installed on windows 11 pro & just found out that when you run HyperSpin the first time with all the updates it deletes some files as I put in my windows 10 pc & it wouldn't work so replaced the files & added an exclusion in windows 11 pro & wow HyperSpin satrted working again.

Whats installed am I missing any that causes the problems as exluded entire drive & HyperSpin Works.

Can't it be hidden with that program posted earlier on this thread. I believe  The post said something like Windows won't  install hidden updates.

No. I haven't been able to block this specific update.

@Agard - It might have been an update from a previous Windows 11 Build.   No need to worry about it if Hyperspin is currently working.
