I have just uploaded a custom XML for Mame v0.154 onto the FTP (upload here/urbangangsta101) Also can be downloaded here

Based on the official XML but with the following filtered out:

-All Clones (Exception: I have included 2-Player versions of The Simpsons, TMNT, TMNT2 & Sunset Riders. Also included Pac-Man)

-Casino

-Mahjong

-Quiz

-Pinball

-Tabletop

-Gambling

-Sexual Content

-Bootlegs

-Hacks

-Unknown Manufacturer

-Compilations

-Prototypes

-Preliminary Status (Non working)

-PlayChoice, VS, MegaPlay & MegaTech (I prefer to play the console versions)

-JAMMA PCB Versions of Metal Slug 5, SvC Chaos, KOF2003 (Not required as identical to Parent ROM)

Results in 2,509 ROMs

Created with the excellent "Don's HyperSpin List Generator" of course!

Won't be to everyone's taste, but suits me fine. I have included both the Output and Excluded XML's so you can load them up with Don's List Generator and customise your own selection.

To use: Rename Output.xml to MAME.xml and move to your \HyperSpin\Databases\MAME\ folder

No clones? That means it's lacking Pac-Man!

I use a tool like hypermediachecker to archive zipped roms, that are not in the xml database, into another folder. Is there a way available (batch file or something) to do the same with chd folders?

This would save me some hdd space.

I would probably move the roms temporarily then zip up your chd folders (use the fastest method, usually 'store') then use the same method as you wrote above to filter out the unnecessary chd's. This should work as the chd folders are named the same as the rom and when they are zipped, your checker app won't know if it's a Rom or chd. Then you just have to unzip whatever it leaves. You need about 300gb free to do this....
