Hi,

Not sure what's going on but I have a curated set of 300 MAME 0.283 non-merged Roms. I did a fresh install of HyperQ & HyperSpin. I select my MAME executable, Rom directory and options etc. Start the install process. HyperQ is importing 14,398 roms.

I don't know where it's getting that amount from, but it's like it ignores my curated romset and imports every single arcade game playable in MAME. I've probably tried from scratch about 5 times now and it's always ending up with the 14,398 games.

Are there any known bugs right now with the MAME import process?

Thanks

I have the same problem. I have about 3,000 selected games from the general ROM set, but after adding them to my MAME, it also finds about 14,000 games.
It seems to me that after specifying exceptions (casino, mechanical, etc.), it simply takes the game names from ITS GENERAL list and adds them, without taking into account what is actually in the user's games folder.
We need an option for it to generate a list of games by scanning ACTUAL ROMs IN THE user's FOLDER.

There is a new release of the mame plugin for the next build.  Couple more days, right after Christmas I was told.  The testing team had oodles of feedback.

@TrnzaddictThere are going to be two types of import when it’s final.  One that supports a full mame rom set split/merged/non-merged (most common) and a secondary import type for your curated rom set (less common)

Talked with frosty, main reason for two types is if your using a full romset but want arcade only, hs will still be able (optionally) to create any available subsystems through the collection system ie game and watch, jakks pacific, etc and you can turn them on to have more wheel systems. (Probably a month out or so)

that secondary import hasn’t been added to the plugin yet.

Hi Frosty - I use my own standalone MAME installation, pick non-merged (which is the format my 300 rom curated set is in), select all filters on the exclusion page to filter out all the crap, keep the trackball, lightgun and spinner games because my cab has all that, and prioritize North America & 2 Players. After scanning it imports 14,398 roms.

Just one more thing, I’m confused what changed here. Months ago I was able to import my 300 rom set no problem, but now the MAME plugin doesn’t support it and it needs to be added in? Why was it removed?

In the plugin there is this super fancy new mame installer, set to do all kinds of filtering and eventually populating collections and other systems…. BUT…. Support for a custom mame set (non-fancy, just a few roms) isn’t currently there. I’m sure it will be but right now, that’s what’s causing your problem.  Probably more of an oversight than anything.

Hey! Good question.

We redesigned the MAME plugin to use MAME's listxml as the default source for building game lists instead of scanning your ROM folder. This gives us better metadata and parent/clone handling for users with complete sets.

Your 300 ROM curated set is still supported - we're adding the User ROMs option back in an upcoming update (should be out within the next month or so). That'll scan your folder directly like the old behavior.

We shifted the default because most testers have complete MAME sets, but curated collections will work fine once that option is back.
