So I want to have Area 51 have its own main menu icon on the main wheel. Is there any way to not have it have to go to a subwheel and just launch mame straight to the rom when clicking it? I know you can do it with executables and pc games when setting up in hyperhq. Is it possible with using a rom and mame?

I'm pretty sure you'd just go into HyperHQ and add a new wheel without subwheels and call it somethings like Area 51. Copy and paste the Mame XML into the Area 51 database so you have the right format. Open that up in notepad or wordpad and erase all the games except for Area 51. If you can't pick MAME in hyperlaunch as an emulator to run it, you might have to set it manually. Using Notepad, open up the Emulators file that should be in this spot: C:/Hyperspin/Hyperlaunch/Settings/Area 51 (or whatever you named the wheel)/. Type in MAME after Default_Emulator like this:

Default_Emulator=MAME

And click save.

You might have to set the rom path to your MAME roms but you should be able to do that in Hyperlaunch.

Grab yourself a sweet theme, a wheel image and a video and you should be set to go

I imagine thats all you'd need to do

This has been discussed recently. But no you can't add it in HyperHQ as having no sub wheel, if you do HyperHQ/Hyperspin will expect you to add an exe file.

It turned out the only possible way was the perhaps create a script to do it.

if I can find the thread I'll post it.

I made this just for you, so you better say thank you

not that if you are using Jumpstiles custom MAME exes, you will have to rename your exe.

the bat file did not work until I renamed the exe to mame

I was not able to record this working since I have two monitors. Hyperspin shows on monitor 1 and mame shows up in monitor 2.

BUT IT WORKS!!!

Sorry it took me so long, kinda fell off the face of the earth for a while. Getting back into the hobby since life calmed down a bit. Thanks giga and assasin for your video! Unfortunately, I still can't get that to work for me...

I don't,

I recorded this on my desktop setup.

my arcade cab is running on a single monitor with

no

- access to the internet

- antivirus

- non essential programs.

why would I install a screen recording set up or any; non essential programs on my arcade PC.

Windows 10 has it's awesome Game DVR built in already. If you ever needed to you could record and dump it onto a thumbdrive.

EDIT: Holy crap I didn't realize how old and dead this zombie thread was.

I think the rule is if you ask for help, but don't check your thread for replies for 2 years, you're kicked off the island.

Or you own everybody beers. Or something...
