In this thread we tell each other what our favorite hidden gem from our collection is and why other people should try it.

Please follow the format below:

Game Name/System:Omega Boost/PSX

Why do you think not many people have played it: I don't remember a strong ad campaign for this game growing up. I read every tips and tricks and game magazine I could but I have never heard of until recently on an episode of Classic Game Room.

Why People Should Play it:

It is a fast paced 3d shoot similar to Panzer Dragoon but with a Macroos Plus kind of Mech shooter vibe. It plays smoothly, has simple controls, great 90s rock/dance soundtrack and has some high quality FMV cut scenes. The cut scenes have real actors mixed with CGI which is cheesy in a really great kind of way. Bad acting but goofy delicious cut scenes.

What sucks about it (an honest problem in the game): An honest problem of the game for me was finding enemies in game. The player has to rotate around a lot in space to find bosses and some enemies. Not super annoying but can become a little tedious. However, the game is so simple and fun it is minor issue

Game Name/System:TaeKwon-Do/Super Famicom

Why do you think not many people have played it: This game was only launched in japan & Korea

Why People Should Play it:

It´s based on real Taekwondo, using real attacks/techniques and tournament rules. All in all there are 19 different characters who all have their own stats and special moves, and players can also make their own customized fighter/character with unique abilities, etc. Great Tournament mode Ending! with a surprise at the end.

What sucks: Side Steps, Japanese and Korea text, you can play Tournament mode without read any word, but customize your own fighter it´s a pain

Thanks Omega Boost It´s amazing too, great game like Afterburner+Starfox, In Taek-Wondo tries to reach the final of the tournament , there will be a surprise ( like Snes Super Soccer) I miss the company of Human, great games made with few megabytes

Game Name/System:Burning Rangers/Saturn

Why do you think not many people have played it: It came at the end of the Saturns life and may have been overlooked as I think where I lived it was only me who still had a Saturn at this point. also I think it was only released on Jap and Pal.... may be wrong on that one.

Why People Should Play it:

In my eyes it belong up there as one of Sonic Teams classics and they should do a remake or sequel at the very least. Great gfx for the time and the gameplay was well thought out. Just give it a go and see what your think, soundtracks worth it on its own

What sucks about it (an honest problem in the game): The script as with many games, esp Sonic is soooooooo cheesy. Gfx now look outdated but you can do some tweaking with the right mu settings.

Game Name/System: Power Shovel / PS1

Why do you think not many people have played it: I mean just look at this weird crap. I rented it on a whim one day at the local shop when I was a freshman.

Why People Should Play it: Its hard. Like oldschool nintendo hard. But completing the really weird challenges is fun. Plus this is a great game to play with friends. Its fun to drink beer and talk shit to each other about why you cant serve curry faster with a power shovel.

what sucks? Its just hard as hell

this is the best vid i could find, sorry its a lets play

Game Name/System: Dragon Force/Sega Saturn

Why do you think not many people have played it: The Saturn didn't do well overall. It was also released later in the console's life, so really the only people who would've played it are those who bought a Saturn early on.

Why People Should Play it:

It's a great combination of strategy, story, and action. It is in the same vein as the Ogre Battle games, but the battles actually feature up to 100 vs 100 soldiers, which is extremely impressive given the time the game came out. It's got a fair difficulty level, and also features 8 different scenarios for additional longevity. The highest praise I can give this game is that when I played it a couple weeks ago, I was still finding and seeing new things I had never seen before. And I started playing it around 15 years ago.

What sucks about it: There are some tricks you can use to make things a little easier, such as battle strategies and capturing generals. However, anyone new to the game will take a while to learn the tricks. Plus, even with the tricks you pick up, it is still a challenging game that requires plenty of planning and strategy.

Video Reference or Youtube Review:

I don't know how to properly embed a youtube video, so someone might have to give me some pointers.

Game Name/System: Intelligent Qube / PS1

Why do you think not many people have played it: It's a puzzle game rather than a fighter/FPS/driving game. I didn't find it until I built my first arcade machine and was randomly configuring PS1 games. I'm not sure it even got a Euro release.

Why People Should Play it: One of the best puzzle games I've played, and great audio characteristics.

what sucks? My bitch.

LSDguy, nice thread dude.

SO my ps1 emu was not working with my controller, turns out I had to press F5! Any idea why?

Played some Intelligent Qube based on your suggestion! Wow! Really fun, the violin music makes it so enthralling. I kept dying on the first stage but I got the hang of and played for a good half an hour. A re-release using ipad touch screen or android touch screen would be wildly popular!

Thanks for the gameplay!

Lords of Thunder/NEC TurboDuo/Sega CD

Not sure if it is a hidden gem among gamers or not, but I just discovered it over the weekend.

Why should people play it? A hard as nails shump with RPG mechanics and a very cool aesthetic and amazing 90's metal sound track.

What sucks, the player has zero immunity after taking a hit and can die fast when pinned against a enemy. Also enemy's come from behind very quickly. Not many continues but you can buy them with credits.

From memory, F5 switches between analog and digital pads....IQ probably didn't support the analog pad (or vice versa).

Glad you enjoyed the game...I stuck it on my hacked PSP for a bit and played it on that. Worked really well.
