Metro Theme

[QuickWork]

I recently made a HTPC running windows 8 that I have Hyperspin set up on. I wanted to create a Hyperspin theme to match the Metro theme of Windows 8. The theme is made to 16:9 because as i mentioned it is running on my HTPC. If anyone is interested in any of the content let me know. I'm happy to share.

The Wheel art is slightly modified versions of other people's hard work so thanks to them.

The Box art in the video is resized versions of content others have posted so thanks to them for their work.

The Cart art in the video is custom vector cart art I created that I posted in the "Box & Wheel Art" section. (except the NES belongs to BBB and JuniorUnderground)

The wallpapers in the game menus are slightly modified versions that can be found here http://prints.ballenphotography.com/

The consoles dropping in on the main menu are custom swf.

I HATE metro in terms of design but that theme looks really good

If you want to add features to the theme check my signature, it is possible to use hyperspin's .xmls in photoshop to create .pngs and to use a script in flash for automatic pngs to swf conversion (in hyperspin .swfs looks better )

haha dark i hated it to begin with too but windows 8 has grown on me. I wanted to make something that had more of a HTPC feel and a metro theme was the easiest to accomplish. When creating it I did notice that hyperspin hated imported psds or png images with text because the text would come out horribly blocky. I dug around and saw that swf were the way to go so I converted all my background images to swf and the text was finally legible. Still not perfect but it was much improved.

Yeah, text look MUCH better when embed in a .swf. Moreover, if you look a 16:9 themes with smooth enabled on a 4:3 monitor it looks blurred BUT on a 16:9 screen it looks much better (I'm using a 4:3 screen on desktop but my htpc is obviously 16:9 so I did some tests ). For aeon nox I'm converting everything to .swf as I've found and modified that script, it is really useful: it automatically converts a folder full of .pngs to .swfs keeping the right names

Anyway windows 10 seems finally an usable operative system. W8 was good but I really can't use a pc with that gui. I mean, unity in ubuntu may not be the better thing in the world but I can live with it while metro simply drives me crazy.

This is one I would try on my new htpc..
