Widescreen Hypertheme?

Hey dudes,

I know we've got widescreen themes in here but I'm trying to make one for my cabinet. I've got no issue doing the work for it. I'm just wondering since I haven't used hypertheme in so long; Was there ever a way to change the aspect ratio in the editor? If I have to go manual to do it. I can. Hoping to just do a bit of drag and drop. I had also thought of seeing if I could set up a PDF for import. It's a pretty simple design;

Background , video snap, video snap overlay. There are animations but they're subtle loops built into the background so nothing really needs to move at all. I just need it to be wide.

Here is a 'render' from the psd:

so I'm not trying to stretch 4:3 to 16:9. I'm trying to just make a 16:9 theme. Doable? I've only ever just stretched things before.

Its not doable since default rez for HS is 1024x768. The process people have been doing is so take a 1920x1080 theme, shrink to 1024x768, save each layer into a separate file (ie.psd format), import into Adobe Flash to take advantage of the PNG lossless format, save to .swf format, and finally constructing the theme in Hypertheme using the swf elements

No, no, no...

1. Create your theme in photoshop 1920x1080 or higher. (I never had an issue at 1920x1080 but some people have claimed that 2048x1152 looked better for them - try out a few resolutions)

2. Save each component as a separate PSD file (do no shrink anything at this point. You save each component full size)

3. Open up Flash, File > Import > Import to stage. Pick each PSD file and make sure you pick lossless from the import menu.

3. Back in phosotshop, shrink your theme to 1024x768.

4. Now check the size of each individual component (copy and paste to a new file > check the dimensions).

5. Back in Flash, change the width and height of your image to match the dimensions from photoshop and export each image to swf.

6. Import your swf images into hypertheme.

I actually receive jaggies when I import them into flash first and then shrink the swf down to 1024x768. I don't receive the jaggies at all when I initially resize them down first in Photoshop then import into Flash. Its probably because im using Photoshop and Flash CC. So whatever method you choose...the process is the almost the same.

After importing the .png go to library, properties of .png and select "loseless" and "allow "smooth".

Honestly i think it's the flash smooth to make themes looking better, hyperspin does not smooth enough pngs, it is really noticeable on text. Consider that in a 16:9 theme you will see a lot of jaggies on a 4:3 screen.

I would like you to do a little test: try importing a 1080p and resizing in flash, then try a resized 1024*768 image in photoshop and import in flash (you can use the script in my sig, it converts from pngs to swf, use the one i modded to use allow smooth). Can you see any difference on a 1080p screen? I don't have a fullHD screen to test it out, on my 1360*768 screen I can't see any difference between the two methods.

Thanks Dark...ill have a look in a few hours...at work currently.

Where's the smooth option in Flash CS6? Are you talking about the drawing settings where you select curves = smooth?

With the image you import into Flash...go under Library and expand the tree until you see your imported image....right click and go to properties and you should see it under compression....like in Dark's picture

I conducted the test and found no difference between the two methods on my screen. They look identical. Looks like Adobe might have corrected the jaggies I was seeing when resizing in Flash with one of their updates. My screen is a 1920x1200 res LCD.

I don't understand why I need to do half of this. Is it not possible to import the images into flash (one by one of course) and export as 1024 x768? I'm under the assumption that when they stretch on a higher resolution screen the swf images basically maintain 'adaptive' resolution?

If that is the case, can I not simply import into flash, resize to 1024x768 in there, export as SWF and then import to hypertheme? or do I have it all wrong? I'm experimenting right now so I'll probably stumble upon an answer of some sort.

Edit: yeah. that works too. Same steps except that going back to photoshop part. I wouldn't have know what I was doing without your advise either way so Thanks.
