The HyperSpin 2 beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

A new Hyperspin?

It's 0.7.17; I just uploaded 0.7.18 to bit bucket today, and I haven't received a Windows executable yet.

0.7.17 it is then. I just used your favorites playlist. Awesome.

How are you gonna update the mame sets? Also in update packs? Just curious because you are making me have an exciting week!

The MAME set should be updated somewhere in the next two weeks as the new MAME extras and videos come out.

But do you need to repack it again for distribution...

RetroFE has moved to http://www.retrofe.nl, and is currently fully under my control. In time, http://www.retrofe.com should also point to this same website. I realize it's not the best of web sites, but creating one has never been my strong suit, and I'm open to help on the matter. :)

In the mean time 0.7.19 is available from the download section of the new website, and 0.7.20 is being worked on, with MacOS support available as well. :) There's also several people working on new themes.

We're at 0.7.21 by now, and MacOS support is working as well. I've uploaded a new modular RetroFE setup to the EmuMovies Upload section that people can play with.

Circo has given me write access to the Official section at the EmuMovies FTP, so you can get a rather nice modular setup with my latest files from /Official/Retro FE Media Pack

Updated the RetroFE base.zip to the latest (0.8.6) release on EmuMovies. This also contains an update of the Aeon Nox theme to make use of some of the new features.

Of course this version is also available in the download section of the RetroFE website.

Looks gorgeous! Awesome work phulshof!

It's standard RetroFE functionality, but the filters are applied offline. I haven't found the CPU power yet to do that on the fly. As such, there's quite a bit of work involved in getting all the art converted and ready. He's currently just converted a minimum of art for the games he wants displayed.

Are all the elements in that video, images? (i.e. alphabet line at the bottom, game year, players, genre, description, resolution etc.). Or is something that can be configured as text/XML (like values)?

He hasn't released his WIP yet, so I'll take an educated guess, and say that the background and box art are individual images, and the rest are images and text based on the xml and story txt files. The music is most likely an invisible video playing. The screenshots are probably separate images linked to the rom names.

Basically RetroFE can display as many images/text as your computer can handle over 20 different layers.

The boxart (image per game) and letters (26 images based on first letter) are two different scrolling menus, and the animation to game info display is probably an animation on idle of the scrolling menus.

I can give more details if he releases his WIP layout file. [emoji3]

Ok, that sounds awesome. 20 layers per game? Man!

Will be waiting for that theme to know how everything works.

Cheers!

Layer in RetroFE is just the depth plane. How many images you display per layer is up to you. Might just take a bit of work collecting all that art though. [emoji3]

Nice, don't think that's in the promo video [emoji20] or is it. I will need to check again

It's not. Some of the features he's using were added in the last few weeks.

Added the RetroFE base 0.8.13.zip to provide the latest (0.8.13) release on EmuMovies. This also contains an update of the Aeon Nox theme to make use of new feature, and make it feel a bit snappier.

Of course this version is also available in the download section of the RetroFE website.
