HyperSpin Dex

HyperSpin Dex is designed to be as universal as possible and be a video game index fashioned after XBMC. Widescreen 1920x1080 with system info on the main menu, there are various extra backgrounds and logos making this theme customizable. Working with dark13 the future should produce info in a better font and format. The standard HyperSpin sounds have been changed to resemble XBMC sounds already.

Not included are databases and default themes as of yet. Of course I could have done these things along with a lot of other things but I didn't want this to be a slap together project. It is far from complete but has been uploaded to my folder along with my working psds. What you basically have is a construct of what I'm building and I know the artwork is just lying all over the place and certain people fill the gaps quicker. I doubt anyone will be impressed but I'm pretty pleased where it's going.

The concept was to create something that works with both of my frontends as I use HyperSpin and GameEx as well. More importantly, I needed to ensure that both FEs merged well into HyperLaunch so I kept this thought during the whole process too and it transitions fluidly into the fade screen as if they're not even two different applications. The entire HyperSpin side contains flashed backgrounds that have a floor overlay on them but the HyperLaunch side retains the original artwork and actually uses the floor as an overlay in the fashion the old info bar did.

The Dex folder contains all of the artwork that can be swapped in and out using HyperTheme to create a new theme. Right now it contains logos, backgrounds, and system info images for the main menu. In the future I would like to have something for the right side of the screen but I'm nowhere near that step yet. The psds are located here along with the script I used to flash everything in. There are inconsistencies in the total number of objects flashed and logos and what have you but I'll get everything up to par. There's probably more in the psd than what has been produced but I want you guys to try it out.

If you'd like to pitch in, and please do, use the appropriate psd for the logo and background. All of backgrounds are sized at 1920x1080 while the logos are large smart objects resized down to a height of 190px. With the logos please stick with the format and don't do things like bevel and deep drop shadow unless that is the official logo. I use the same 2px drop shadow throughout. I could go on for days but...

If I missed you then you're not important. C'mon that's definitely a joke but my bad seriously.

Special Note:

If you want to help then try basically. Don't ask me if I need help because it's obvious. Let's be real and not be "Thanks" hunters. Please don't post snide one sentence remarks.

Files will be updated later and I believe there is more information I have yet to give so the original post will be edited later too. The little arrow thing on the pointer is just something I was playing around with.

The HL fade files are also the background originals that just need to be organized correctly but with so much going on I haven't had time.

The Dex files are named that way because this is the naming convention used in GameEx themes which I'm not gonna rename all of these over and over again.

Too much to inform.

On the ftp in dark13 folder there's "infopanel tutorial.zip". It explains the whole process from HS XMLs to .png infopanel artworks. It' a bit raw so please don't share it outside of the ftp but it should be comprehensible. Consider only that when i say "right click and shift" in openoffice to select columns it's actually left click and shift lol.

is it possible for this program to have an option for sub wheel basically for example you have computer systems and when you click on it and go to default section it would spread out into multiple wheels with the systems

Absolutely Dark as I understood you wanted a little privacy on it to begin with. I started to write a little tutorial from the video but I stopped to do life things and I also want to incorporate this correctly. Your video is your video and I'm not gonna upchurch it or anything else.

There's many systems that I won't personally use like the computer systems but since HyperSpin doesn't natively have system subwheels I don't want to start putting in all of the work-arounds and such when it's perfect to catalog them alphabetically to add artwork to this unfinished thing and have it as native as possible. For example, there's no search function just like HyperSpin downloads as.

Well, you know, I can add the extra stuff in no problem but this is meant to a painless set for every system. The extras were never intended and people do them differently. The core stays the same and any noob should be able to use that...as soon as I finish it.

Ok well the thing is if we had this fuction then we could have consoles by year and also by manafacture and maybe a few other things but if not anyways keep up the good work.

It's not a matter of "privacy", you knowm, i have this sort of OCD to release only "perfect" stuff and that tutorial is far from being perfect (especially when I batch the wrong folder lol, it may be a bit confusing for noobs) :P Honestly I've found that making tutorial in english is MORE difficult than hosting teamwiever lectures, maybe because when using software I tend to think about next step, when teamwieving I'm more focused on what i'm doing :P

Anyway I want to record also a basic tutorial on flash animation, many theme makers don't know how to use flash and to get the knowledge you need to make an hyperspin .swf layer, it is needed to look a lot of flash tutorials, I want an essential tutorial that explain the most common tools. Just to make some examples, using a vector mask from an .ai is a pain in the a** as flash does not recognize the vector path as a mask, to use alpha masks you need to use code to cache as bitmap your layers, etc. :)

I was on the Locomolito thread and realized that I needed to point out one of things I had already thought of that made my project awesome in my eyes even though... I take a lot into consideration and one of those is that everyone is doing everything in SD and since I spent all that time doing logos in HD and they would be large as hell if they weren't flashed. The logo in this picture if I remember correctly is actually a smart object and still this big. I know I've got logos and backgrounds I've never seen on the forums before but with the gravity of my project ain't nobody got time for a full scale presentation when the stuff is sittin' there.

Checkout the Super Game Boy Background and Virtual Boy Background and Game Boy Color Logo and who knows what else I toyed around with. Oh I stretch the X out a little more on the Taito Background and there's also a secondary Model 2 bg by THK and shit umm I fixed some apostrophe thing in NES database I believe and I've been trolling the forums for everything everywherere and umm shit it would take me a while but in three minutes that's what I got and here's the pic cause I gotta go to bed. Oh and the guy with thing has a surprise for me which is really awesome.

Well you can't see it too well but the logo is 1085x193
