All Arcades under one main wheel

Hi and thanks for reading this.

I was looking for a thread that Aletterfromthelostdays started last year and I found it here > http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/6568-wip-all-arcade-systems-under-one-wheel-genre-subwheel-trick/#entry120853

Problem is his folder doesn't exist anymore at FTP.

I want to have all arcade classics wheels under a main Arcarde wheel using his method or other that does this trick.

Can anyone help me finding what I need to sort it out?

Thanks

Aorin

Well, MAME does his job in most systems, but I don't think it does for Taito Type X2, Sega Naomi, Sammy Atomiswave, some others.

If we believe MAME stand for all Arcade systems, I should probably think that MESS does the rest for non-arcade systems, and this site > http://consume.retrogames.com/ proves that MESS lose for Retroarch, say, for pretty much all main console emulators.

But, I though my intentions of dividing Arcade systems by manufacturer were good, MAME is a MESS!

Just do a separate wheel entry for manufactures if that is what you want, that is what most people do.

Thanks Jeremy I'll try that, I'll have to sort the other systems that MAME don't emulate, as taito type X, Sega Naomi, Sammy Atomiswave, Sega Model 2 and 3 probably are better emulated with standalone emulators as well.

You can set up different systems with emulators, but just add 1 to the main wheel. Use mf xml's like suggested would make things easier to navigate. You can point games in an xml to use the settings of a ddifferent system and thus emulator.

As a suggestion, make one XML that includes everything on one wheel and call it your Arcade Wheel, create seperate genre XML based upon the manufacturers and have the wheel start on your favorites. This way, I you enter your arcade wheel and select the genre (manufacturers) when needed. Your favorite wheel will just have what you choose to be the best from all wheels. In case separate emulators should be used to run the games, either use the <exe> tag or alternate emulators function from RL. I use this method because my main menu wheel only shows my removable panels as wheels.

There is a third party app found on the forums specifically for this. You can search or create a wheel by class so you can have multiple systems in the same wheel and create genres like handhelds.

The third party app is hyperxml

Thanks guys for your tips.

Just to make sure, I read something that using categories, let's say, if I have subwheels for Sega Model 2 and 3, Taito Type X and others as categories, they won't have videos or themes?

I'll take a look at this hyperxml, thanks!

I see that HyperXml is meant for a searching purpose, or does it have features to make a system with subwheels?

It creates a system "hyperxmlspin" on the main menu. Then everytime you create a search you can save the results or some of the results to a subwheel of your choice. It copies the media over too. It's also editable after the search too. The latest version works great with Xbox controllers on the search page.

It would take some time for me.

I'm planning to use Sega model 2 and 3, Taito Type X, NEO GEO MVS, Capcom, Midway etc.

Probably my best bet is waiting for HS to support system subwheels.

Thanks for your help!

No it won't....you can search just in MAME by manufacturer and save that. Then search for a second manufacturer and add the results to the first or save that as a wheel...I reckon 1 hour and all done!

That's just a brief example. It is really flexible.
