Hey, I've made a new theme for people from Europe who remember Sega's 16-bit console by the name "Mega Drive."

What has been changed

* The logo is changed and is of a higher quality then before.

* Sonic has a new animation, better quality.

* New Video Overlay, taken from Sonic the Hedgehog

I made this for myself, but maybe someone else will appreciate this upgrade, I've uploaded it on the ftp under my name.

not bad pretey cool but i would have added a console of the mega drive instead and this type post-2203-14287058335_thumb.jpg as it would stand out better rather then the sonic platform im just saying also maybe make tails stand on the other side or knuckles maybe apart from that perhaps a sparkle on sonics finger and a nice effect on the logo those are my ideas.

Thanks, I will probably add stuff in the future (Tails would be a cool), but my main priorities where to get a good quality Mega Drive Logotype and to fix Sonic. I plan to add an animated transition, the console itself is not something that I will add (I don't really like how the consoles are a part of the themes, just my preference I guess) :fisheye:

I did some more work for the theme in 3D, might do some changes and I will upload it to the ftp when it's done.

I really like modelling, a stylish controller, but render is way too dark. Rendering "pure black" is a nightmare on many engines... maybe you can try a HDRI mapping or adding a lightbox to scene, a bit of highlights/reflections may helps a bit in defining objects :P

Can't you just model/render lighter colors and adjust/fix them afterwards in photoshop?

Yes, you can also light up that render in photoshop (used only curves in this case)

Some rendering option in c4d correspond to photoshop's "levels" and "curves", I guess other engines have similar options :P Using that options or postprocessing in photoshop actually makes things much faster than setting up better lighting or material. Sometimes to make things faster I use also alphas or cel/toon rendering to add "gloss" to original renders in photoshop :P Anyway as you can see with different curves the image is a bit "grainy" so some correction is needed also in "pure" rendering options (unless the problem is generated by jpeg compression). As I said the problem with black is having a "pure black" that still has visible details. Dark gray is not black :D

Well if dark gray ain't viable within "pure black" than pure black can have no details, because light reflections will cause the black to cease being "pure black"

"pure black" is the lack of any tone other than the single purest blackie blackerdy black black :P

You got the point :P

That's why "pure black" is easier to "fake" in 2d, you have more "control" on shades and gloss/reflections. Probably we're just too get used to apple-ish "pure black thing/pure white gloss" commercials :D

... or (probably) I'm just obsessed with "web 2.0" glossy style :P

White is the most colorful thing I know! :P

I guess I can make it lighter, but my original idea was to have it dark in order to put more focus on the video. But maybe I made it too dark
