it seem your setting files has become corrupted, please delete it and re-setup

I feared that but no big deal it was fun setting up and figuring it out.

after done setting up it helps to set the file as read-only when done so it doesnt become corrupt again

not sure if you have update to the latest version, but it was one of the fix recently made by antos, it was the last thing we tested for. it is a good preventive to make it read-only

Hey @sevenseal is it still recommended we use PIPE only for IPC Method? Because it is not working on any of the Hyper Marquee applications I have added.

(Pipe) or (Pipe-cli) is best for HyperMarquee.  It is probably a small omission on your side. Sevenseal or I can help you. We will need more info to troubleshoot.

For now try this Parameter format for HM: false config_File_Name "[game]" "[system]" "" [event]

best to stick with pipe(cli)

just so you know pipe alone can not open apps, pipe can only send parameters... so when a app is close; it is sending parameters to a app not running.

cli can open an app that is not running....

thats why we encourage to use pipe(cli)

What about closing the video when starting the game (make sense) and displaying the high scores instead? This is easy to do. You can close the video on event trigger and open the hi-scrore on another event.

But nothing is triggered when the video is stopped.

Thanks. Now when I launch a game it reloads the animation of the image that it is already showing. Is there a way to avoid this?

Take out one of the open filter that relates to game launch

Thanks! This is a cool program. I am excited to try and setup MAME and try it with High Scores. Is there a way to minimize a program once it is opened? That would be very useful.

I'd like to pose an idea. I'm not sure if anyone else has tried doing this yet. In my setup, I have a standard widescreen monitor as my marquee. The bottom half is dedicated to showing just the marquee images for whatever game is being played. The top half is being used as an "advertising space", like a billboard...images that are themed to my cabinet. So far, I've been able to have randomized images switch out every 20 seconds on the top half, and all is working well.

But, I had a thought.

What if, on the top half, you could do the same thing...except this time have random videos, and cycle through them like you do with pictures???

So far...I've been able to get it to pick a random video to show, but I can not get it to pick the next random video after the first one plays. Also, the cycle counter I had used for the pictures will go for a maximum of 20 seconds before it would pick another picture to show. If I try this with the videos, after 20 seconds...it does attempt to pick another video, even if the first one is still playing. At that point, EDS errors out and stops.

So...is there a way to have random videos play in succession (after one ends, the next begins)...without having to use the cycle timer?

Please read the following post from Antos from the "HyperMarquee" thread. This is why he removed both HyperMarquee & EDS. He's in the process of creating a new frontend and he posted a message about it in that forum asking for people to help him with it. You can read the rest in the following link. The message that says "Deleted see next post. tx"...this was where his original message was.

Kind of sad, in my opinion. I, for one...have been using both HyperMarquee and EDS extensively in my setup...and I'd hate for development of either to suffer because of some misunderstood communications.
