I know you can use the system filter to allow only the systems that you want EDS to use, but is there a wild card to use every system apart from the wilded carded one ?

I.E  I want to show all my systems wheel arts apart from mame.

I'm having some trouble with Hyper Marquee being closed when i launch a game. It's happening because I have #4 (Game Stop) set under close filter. For some reason it thinks that when i launch a game or back out of any system menu that a game is being stopped. Can anyone let me know if i have something setup incorrectly. Posted Screenshots. Thanks

one of your parameter is not right

its look like "" [event]

when it should look like this "[event]"

not sure why you are using "" before...

what are your reasoning for using the event wild card?

i would remove the "" [event] all together to be honest

i created a new hypermarquee and turned off event watcher. have the parameters set as...

false MAME-Marquee_Artwork-MameMarquees+AllSystems "[game]" "[system]"

but i still get the problem. for some reason whenever backing out of a wheel or launching a game it still things i'm exiting a game because #4 shows up on the events. The only way i can fix the problem is to remove #4 from close filters. I also have to stick to only using 1 hyper marquee and cant have multiple setup that switch between one another based on the system i'm using.

look into you rl and check your ledblinky setting? that the suggestion i can point you to. its seem that either rl is setup is not quite right or something is stealing focus from hs causing the exit trigger to occur...

Greetings - First off I want to thank Sevenseal and Antos for the work in creating and great support you offer for EDS and Hypermarquee.  Really innovative and really cool stuff!

I've had a MAME cabinet for nearly 10y and just am refurbishing it - and  have discovered many new features that I had fallen out of touch with - including my first use of Hyperspin, Hypermarquee, EDS and more :-).  I had my system up and running - EDS was working great, Hypermarquee was running, all was good on a Win 7 PC - then I had a HDD issue and instead of fixing a slow PC, about a month ago I just bought a new Win 10 PC.  I copied my config over and it worked great first time :-)!

But suddenly, EDS has stopped working in the last week - and I have no idea why.  I cannot start the EDS Launch module, or the Hyperspin event integrator - and I get the exact same behavior as gigapig reported on Jan 18 (p.24) - they just start in the system tray, the app never comes up and when I hover over the tray icon, it disappears.  I've tried un-installing and reinstalling and no luck.
HOWEVER - i have a backup copy on an external HDD and when I run it there - IT WORKS.  Then I copy that file onto my C: drive - and it does not work.  So perhaps a permission issue?  I have set all of my access to read/write/execute for the EDS directory per the instructions.  My file path is my C:\arcade\hyperspin\EDS (not the default).

I am running the beta v 0.8.1, Windows 10.  I've tried turning off my antivirus software too.  I've also tried to run as an admin - same result.  I did try installing to the default directory and IT WORKS.  I just went back and read about UAC and that Gigapig turned this off.  I'd prefer not to do this, but is that the solution?  and if so - any idea why this was working fine then just stopped on me without me making any known changes?

So i'm going to play my newb card here...any advice?
THANK YOU!

i would look into windows defender and add the exes to your exception...
WD is a major bind for 3rd party apps...

or you could just disable it if you dont use internet on your cab

Thank you Sevenseal -

I was trying not to bury you in details but my new PC i mentioned came with Macafee.  EDS was working fine then stopped.  So I turned Macafee off.  Same result (i.e. EDS would not launch, just phantom tray icon).  So I uninstalled Macafee (at which point WD turns itself on).  Same result.  So i had tried turning WD real-time scanning OFF before I posted - same result.  On your advice now, i just added both the EDS folder and I tried the HS Event integrator file into the exception list...same result...  And, i just went back and turned off WD real time scanning again to be sure - and same result.  And in my WD history, no quarantined files at all so not tied up there.

Any other suggestions to try?

next it might involve with uac...
it block you from using 3rd apps...
a simply test run the app with admin right..
give it a try...

uac lock down a lot... that prevent to access many areas which requires programs to function

i would suggest disable UAC

Thanks again sevenseal -

I just tried 'run as administrator' with same result...is that a legit test of bypassing the UAC?

Then I moved UAC slider to minimum (never notify) and same result - even when trying to 'run as admin'.

I would like to keep my PC on the internet for updates, etc. so hesitant to turn it off totally (which from what I gather is a registry setting).

It feels suspicious that it works when installed to the default directory, but not in a different path.  is this a clue at all?  So this suggests to me it's not a PC-level thing.  Yet nothing about my EDS setup changed when it stopped working suddenly so i'm at a loss there as I was guessing it must have been a windows setting or a virus update.  I know gigabit mentioned corrupted setup files (EDS settings & User settings).  My EDS settings file looks ok to me (readable and has the settings I put in) and the user settings file seems ok although I'm not sure what belongs in it (I've attached; and I notice if I delete it or on fresh install it is automatically created).

Thanks

go for a fresh install if all fail... just recreate your setting and dont copy setting files over

only providing suggestion due to lack of details or screenshot to show the issue at hands... it the best i can do

I was wondering if I could get some assistance in setting up HyperMarquee  to display on 2nd monitor? I thought I was following the instructions, but have been knocking my head against the wall now for days. I am confused. I was able to set up the program, run a test thru EDS and everything runs, but when I run Hyperspin I get blank windows and nothing changes when I switch menu or games. There has to be something that I am missing, but I just do not see it. I am on the current versions of all the programs. If anyone could walk me thru the proper steps, I would appreciate it.

Might be a good idea to take a screen shot of your EDS settings so we can see if it's correct. You may also need to post the HyperMarquee settings file.
