iNTiGOD
Hi guys! I'm calling on the experts here. Upon recently updating HL-3 to rocketlauncher I have noticed that the "filter roms only" feature in hyperhq seems broken. I am aware that during the rocketlauncher update some of the hyperhq settings regarding the launcher were changed. I can get the rom filter working if I re-enter the full path to the roms and put in the rom extension (for only ONE rom extension). However it doesn't work if I put in 2 rom extensions (e.g. tape and disk extension for spectrum). I am separating the extensions in hyperhq by a comma and it still doesn't work. Rocketlauncher seems to use both extensions at once. Has anyone got a fix? Cheers
gigapig
RocketLauncher should not be interfering with HyperSpin or HyperHQ. I'll check to see if I see the same behavior; it's perhaps the HyperSpin beta than the launcher. You could zip them all up so they have 1 extension, but that would be ladt resort. Hey gigapig, didn't think about zipping all the roms but i'll try that. I'm not using the hyperspin beta btw.
gigapig
I have just tested multiple Rom extensions in HyperHQ for Commodore 64 and the Roms only filter set. They are working fine with both HS 1.3.3 & 1.4 and RL 1.0. This was the layout, no spaces. t64,d64,tap,crt
iNTiGOD
Thanks mate. I'll take a look after work. I'm certain I have tried what you mentioned but it didn't work for the spectrum emulator "Spectaculator". Djvj mentions within the rocketlauncher transition article that : 8. Rompath and Extensions must be blank and userompath must be true. HS 1.3 has a bug where it will not wrap the romname in quotes if this setting is not enabled. But to get rom filter working you have to put in the path and extensions. Will retest again tonight (I must have overlooked something). Cheers again for your help
gigapig
Right, I was not aware of all that. I've just updated my test set up with 1.3.3.
gigapig
It doesn't look like it's possible because of line 8 from the instructions you have posted, you can't add a Rom path. I checked over at the RL site and it seemed like someone had a similar issue, so I posted to get it cleared up. http://www.rlauncher.com/forum/showthread.php?1079-Selecting-MAME-Crashes-Hyperspin&p=10730#post10730
Dannyboyni
I am also experiencing issues with the roms only filter. I am using HS 1.3.3 & 1.4 and RL 1.0. The thing is it does not work even if I just put one file extension in. I guess my only option would be to use Don's Hyperspin tools to edit my xml database to not display games I do not have roms for.
gigapig
I've not had the same problem with my HS 1.4 setup as it does not have all those extra "things" added to the system ini files so I can happily carry on as normal. If there is no fix then yes Dannyboy you would need to have an xml that matches your Roms exactly.
iNTiGOD
I ended up frying some of my hyperspin system inis by fiddling with the hyperhq settings. Giving up on this one for now.

You could also filter your games by filtering your artwork (e.g. move the wheels of games that you don't want showing into another folder). darkvizer
Hey there, I´m having the same issue here. The slight diference is that if I use hyperspin with ROMS only checked it crashes. What I also noticed is that if I use it without the ROMS only option and selec a game that i have the ROM it still doesnt work. I'm not quite sure what is happenig, I can play my games on MAME, on Rocketlaucher but not on Hyperspin. (my rom path is set corectly on HyperHQ an added all extensions). If anyone comes with a resolution, please help out.
darkvizer
Ok, I tried messing up everything again. Last problem is almost fixed. Now when I try to run a game on Hyperspin this message shows "Call to nonexistent funcition. Specifically: StartModule()" I'm sure it has something to do with the Executable in HyperHQ... Anyway, thanks for the help in advance!
sglavach
I noticed that ROMS ONLY option only worked if I matched the case correctly... I have the Atari 2600 with a26 extensions. Roms Only option did not work when I had A26 specified in HyperHQ but worked as expected when I put a26 (lowercase a).
kozy68
i found that when i copy and pasted the rom extensions (zip|7z|bin|etc) from the rocketlauncher setup, HyperHQ doesn't like " | " in between the extensions. I had to make sure i used commas to separate.

Also HyperHQ is the GUI for setting up HyperSpin it has nothing to do with RocketLauncher. You should only use Roms only if you don't have a full set and Roms only does not work if your using newer versions of RocketLauncher and HyperSpin 1.3.
matchaman
Since this feature is still broken, how can I filter out the ROMs I don't have from an xml?I can't find any tool that does that (only the opposite, to kick out ROMs that don't match the database). matchaman
HyperHQ's "ROMs only" option seems to work only on older versions of HS.When I enable it now, I try to enter the particular system and it automatically sends me back to the main menu. What I need to do is to avoid ROMs that I don't have and doing so by filtering/disabling them in the database seems like the only option. So I need to compare a ROMs folder to a database and filter out the missing games on the .xml. matchaman
Just messed a bit in HHQ. Well, it seems that when I replaced ..\HyperSpin\ROMs\Final Burn Alpha to E:\HyperSpin\ROMs\Final Burn Alpha filtering "ROMs only" seems to work! But now HS lacks portability on that drive and depends on the drive letter :/
matchaman
Yeah for my older setup I used Z: just to make sure there would be zero conflicts Therefore, for a truly portable setup and "roms only", my only option would be to filter out or disable the missing files. Is there any tool for that? :/
keltoigael
I also had the same issue and just gave up which led to me deleting Hyperspin completely and moving on.

matchaman
Yes, you can use Filter HyperList from Don's tools here. Make sure that you have the rompath and extension set in HHQ, open the program, select the wheel and database file to use then scan. Select Yes from the Game filter on the left to only display games that you have. Press Ctrl+A then Ctrl+F to select all of the found games and add them to the output list. Click the Export Output List button to create a new database with only the games you have in your rompath. Thank you very much, mate!Saved my day keltoigaelWOW I personally can't quit HS, I just take big breaks
dr3wst3r
Just had this issue and i resolved mine by removing Roms from sub folders. I had PS1 images in their own folder and it wouldn't find anything. After i put them in my roms\ folder as ISO/BIN it worked a treat. :-)
HyperS12
Just messed a bit in HHQ. Well, it seems that when I replaced ..\HyperSpin\ROMs\Final Burn Alpha to E:\HyperSpin\ROMs\Final Burn Alpha filtering "ROMs only" seems to work! But now HS lacks portability on that drive and depends on the drive letter :/ I did the same thing and I can confirm that using a relative path to your ROM folders and having "ROMs only" checked in HHQ will NOT work. I had to go through each system and use Filter HyperList from Don's tools to make a new XML database for each system containing only the ROMs I have.
