  1. Good to know! Due to "real life" my gaming PC was out of action for most of last year and I never got around to using my 4Play, so I really must devote a bit of time to it now.
  2. Disable 7z for MAME in RLUI, it's been happening to a few other people!
  3. I've updated the first post to reflect some progress being made by Bill with the v1.4 beta, and correct the links for the new site.
  4. Updated point 2 to include ghutch92's startup script, which I should have done much sooner!
  5. Thanks THK!
  6. Maybe I'll hedge my bets then!
  7. EDIT 01-May-2015: Updated to reflect some progress being made by Bill with the v1.4 beta, and update the links. Still a work in progress though. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ HyperSpin has a few quirks that can trip up new users, so please check the list below before asking for help or posting a bug report. This is not a complete userguide or FAQ, just an overview of the common problems that crop up frequently on the forum, but let me know if I've missed anything obvious and I'll update this post. 1 - [FIXED IN 1.4] Plug in some speakers! HyperSpin will behave erratically if you don't have any speakers connected. 2 - [FIXED IN 1.4] HyperSpin can only be directly controlled with a keyboard or a keyboard encoder (such as an I-PAC or X-Arcade) so make sure the joystick, spinner and trackball controls in HyperHQ are disabled. If using a joypad, Xin-Mo joystick etc. you need to use a keymapper such as Xpadder or JoyToKey (Joy2Key) to convert your joystick & button inputs to keypresses, or use ghutch92's startup script: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/2069-hyperspin-startup-script/ 3 - Make sure all your systems and roms follow the standard HyperSpin naming conventions and you are using valid, up to date databases. If not, your systems won't show up in HyperLaunch and your games won't match up with the themes, videos and artwork. Check HyperList for details: http://hyperlist.hyperspin-fe.com/ 4 - If you use the Roms Only wheel filter in HyperHQ, make sure you have set the emulator path and extensions correctly or it won't show anything. 5 - [FIXED IN 1.4] Game preview videos don't work in HyperSpin with Intel HD graphics or ArcadeVGA cards unless you disable Flash hardware acceleration. Discussion and details on how to fix it in Windows 7 and 8 can be found somewhere in this long thread: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/861-hyperspin-intel-hd4000-no-videos/ 6 - [FIXED IN 1.4] Horizontal wheel scrolling doesn't work properly. If you hold your joystick in one direction, the wheel moves in the opposite direction. 7 - Leaving Hyperspin running idle for an extended period of time will cause it to freeze indefinitely until it is closed then relaunched. Seems to happen with both FLV and MP4 videos, and themes with particle effects. If you still have a problem and can't find an existing thread about it, try to determine whether the fault lies in the emulator, HyperSpin or HyperLaunch and post in the appropriate forum section. Make sure HyperLaunch is kept up to date via GIT and read Ron's HyperNoobie guide before posting: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/topic/2591-the-hypernoobie-guide-for-posting-to-the-fourm/?hl=hypernoobie
  8. Hyperlaunch is made up of lots of small files, which get updated frequently. The updates are distributed through GIT as this is simpler than creating a new installer package every time.
  9. Yeah, you might as well go for Gun Games and keep it simple.
  10. Light Gun Games is probably the better name anyway. You wouldn't have any other wheels named after the exact model of the controller, like "Sanwa JLF-TP-8YT Games" for the ones that need an 8-way stick, after all.
  11. Oh well, so much for that idea! Thanks for the info. As it happens, my sensor bar isn't even stuck on top of my TV yet as the bezel is so thin, but I've just got hold of a plastic bracket that might do the job after I've cut it down to size. Maybe this weekend...
  12. Ah, that's true but I had in mind to just display everything (HyperSpin & all emus) on either the monitor or the TV depending on how the mood takes me, using Display Fusion profiles and hotkeys to switch displays. Thinking about it, if both the TV and the monitor are 1920x1080 and I get the same ratio of viewing distance / screen size, I may not have to worry about recalibrating the guns.
  13. I'm following this with interest. I bought an Aimtrak a while ago but haven't got around to setting it up properly as my cab building plans were put on hold. However, I'm thinking of buying another one at some point, then putting one sensor bar in my (as yet unbuilt) cab and one on the TV, which the cab will be connected to for sofa bound gaming. I'll need to see if it's possible to swap between the screens without having to recalibrate both guns each time. Having multiple copies of MAME set up sounds like a good place to start.
