Dungeons & Dragons PDF Hyperspin System

Hello everyone:

Back in the 80s, when D&D was all the rage, and I was all alone, I really enjoyed the hours of endless entertainment and imagination it provided. I saw people using a "Bookshelf" system for Retro Gaming magazines so that gave me the idea to construct my own D&D PDF themed system. It's really just a fancy way into reading Dungeons and Dragons books and modules but I'm really enjoying its creation. Attached are a few samples of what it looks like so far. The database creation is actually complete with over 900 entries. It was easy to import the names into an Excel workbook and save it as an XML. I had previously named and cataloged all the books and modules years ago. This is really mostly for my enjoyment but if you're interested in acquiring the system, I would be happy to help.

Many, many thanks to the people who created the Soda PDF theme for retro gaming magazines. Let me know what ya think. :)

i have alot of the original DND paper back and every PDF version of DND

Cool, Nogarth. I haven't played too much since I've been an adult but still love the game and have collected quite a lot of the PDFs too. I do very occasionally play with a coworker who is from Newcastle as you are. When he lived there he played all the time. Let me know if you have any input on the D&D system. :)

I have not played in forever either, but I think you have a great idea here.

Starting to think Hyperspin is not just for video games anymore.

We have seen those magazines now this.  There is no reason comic books, ebooks, audio books, and who knows what else could come.

The entire D&D System is now available in the Downloads section. I did the following:

1. Painstakingly standardized the file naming convention and created the XML database for use with Hyperspin. It includes the TSR Code, Series code, Campaign Setting, year and publisher.

2. Extracted the 1st page using GhostScript in order to create the wheel images. Resized all images to 640x480. www.rpggeek.com also has all these images.

3. Created the Main Menu and System themes.

4. Created the Lettering.

5. Extracted all the 10K or less WAV files from Neverwinter Nights PC game to use as wheel sounds. I did not share this because it's actual licensed game content. I just use it for myself. You can do the same with any game you choose

Have fun and hope you like it!

I recently uploaded the entire D&D System to the Hyperspin FTP. It includes all the system wheel art, wheel sounds, pointer, letters, an updated XML database (including many file name fixes and a few additions), Main Menu theme, and Main Menu video. Look on the FTP under /Unsorted Submissions/Dungeons & Dragons and get it while it's hot!

I'm am pleased to announce that I've released version 3.0 of the 920 image set for the D&D System Theme.

  • 3.0 - Compressed all 920 images so the entire set is now an extremely light 56MB. This allows the System Theme to load much faster while retaining the size, color, and beauty of the images.

I found a superb website for compressing images that seems to retain most/all of the color depth of the original file: http://compress.photos/

Please simply back-up and/or delete your original wheel installation of 920 images and replace it with the pack found below. Enjoy!
