rich2k4 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Since the "classics" collection is broken out by manufacturer, is there an xml of the Arcade Classics section that removes everything from the other classics wheels and leaves everything that is left over? In other words, an xml with Capcom classics, Konami classics, etc removed? To me it seems dumb for the arcade classics/mame wheel to lump everything together, when most of the games are in the other "classic" wheels.
griffin518 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 So what, exactly, are you looking for? newoski Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I think rich2k4 is requesting a MAME.xml file, with all the overlapping games from the Classics XMLs removed That way, the games only appear on one wheel. To my knowledge, no XMLs like this have been shared and they would need to be updated each time a new MAME release came out, making them unlikely to be up-to-date often
damageinc86 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 My mame has everything removed. That's what was leftover after taking out all the "classics" from it.
HazzardActual Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 My mame has everything removed. That's what was leftover after taking out all the "classics" from it. Really? Nothing at all? I figured there had to be at least a hundred or so games that weren't in the classics xmls
piovanellomarco Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 put the ROMs that you need, then use HyperROM2XML http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/7383-hyperrom2xml/ it works on many emulators.
damageinc86 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 Noooo. My MAME xml has everything removed from it. Taito, Konami, Midway, etc. etc. Leaving whatever leftover.
trebukenz Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 I was looking for such a database as well. There does not appear to be an easy way to make it. I thought about removing the wheels with Hyperspin Rom Manager and then setting the Arcade Classics wheel to 'Wheels Only', but it did not work for me. Displays all the wheels anyways. Other methods involve too much editing or database building. There are other wheels in addition to the classics that can be removed to which makes the whole thing relative to the user. I think some have AAE to use MAME, so do you remove those? etc.
SkyHighGam3r Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 put the ROMs that you need, then use HyperROM2XML http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/files/file/7383-hyperrom2xml/ it works on many emulators. That's the fastest if you only have certain games. Noooo. My MAME xml has everything removed from it. Taito, Konami, Midway, etc. etc. Leaving whatever leftover. It's tedious, but just going through an XML and deleting irrelevant data is by far the most efficient. It's definitely do-able. I have done it to every one of my systems except for the TurboGrafx and the 3DO (I just haven't gotten to them yet.)
damageinc86 Posted September 10, 2015 Posted September 10, 2015 don's hyperspin tools. just filter out all of the main manufacturers, and you are left with a cleared out mame xml. Took like 10 minutes to make the manufacturer xml files and the leftover file. I wouldn't even think of trying to sift through the thousands of games and make my own mame database manually.

This is what I was thinking. Just use that to pull out the ones you don't want.
