relic Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Hi guys so i looked on the net last night and i looked for a arcade screen saver of some sort and i found something really amazing made by Tom Speirs imagine your screen saver being the arcade right in your posesion well that dream has actually happened heres the news MAME Screensaver is a Windows screensaver for MAME. It allows you to run MAME as a screen saver, randomly playing games at intervals you specify. Its simple to setup, configure and simple to use, and works just like any other windows screensaver, except when your screensaver kicks in it will randomly and continuously launch MAME games. With version 0.5 you can play music from a folder while the screensaver. Version 0.5 also introduces an advanced list manager and filtering options. heres the link head over and check it out i have it in my arcade it is insane http://tomspeirs.com/mamescreensaver/ Also i was told by jack that theres a nes one as well so lets face it the only thing which is needed now is a multi console type and your all set heres the nes one http://www.ubernes.com/nesscreensaver.html And in other news i have found a more simpler way to boot into anything after windows starts i have xbmc set to mine and is brilliant you dont even have to mess with windows settings to pull this brainer http://howtotechtutorials.com/how-to-make-xbmc-start-at-boot-in-windows-7/ 100%
toxictoaster Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Well that's some neat stuff, I think I'm going to give the NES one a try.

djvj Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 And in other news i have found a more simpler way to boot into anything after windows starts i have xbmc set to mine and is brilliant you dont even have to mess with windows settings to pull this brainer http://howtotechtutorials.com/how-to-make-xbmc-start-at-boot-in-windows-7/ Most ppl will want to shell to windows as this will make xbmc start much faster than the "add to Startup folder" method. If you exit xbmc, you can have it start explorer.exe very easily which would then put you in the normal windows environment. relic Posted May 23, 2013 Author Posted May 23, 2013 maybe but some people prefer to have windows in the backround normally with out messing with windows setings and if you have a ssd as your main drive theres not much diffrence in booting up. 100%
dark13 Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 Running explorer.exe can create some problems with systray pop up/antivirus/firewall minimizing or blocking some application while in fullscreen... Also "Group policy" can be used to shell another software, the advantage is launching explorer.exe from task manager will launch the real explorer.exe instead of opening an explorer window without taskbar. A side effect of replacing explorer.exe is media keys will not work, some programs such as eventghost can be used to manage them but I had a seriuos issue with eventghost: it ended up launching xbmc before ati driver were loaded. Sadly the only method to add a "wait" on a .bat/link I found is launching a ping on 127.0.0.1 for N seconds then launch xbmc. Not a very "neat and clean" system... zerojay Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I've been running the NES screensaver at home and at work for the last year. It's awesome.
jackhammersalm Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 ubernes screensaver is a must, especially with multiple monitors. The only drawback (not really a drawback) is that you need ubernes and the nes roms to make them PLAYABLE! within the screensaver Sent from my Samsumg Galaxy S3 using Tapatalk 2 The Hyperspin Report writer/editor
resident grouch, Hyperspin facebook modorator
for those who want to read my work
http://thehyperspinreport.blogspot.co.uk
zerojay Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 You do NOT need UberNES to make them playable. The screensaver has it built-in. I don't have UberNES installed whatsoever and it all works as it should.
