12 days of Christmas is concluding and I'm sure many are jumping on mame 169 because of it. Hopefully one of the mameuifx no nag creators are back in town soon. Looking forward to the direct input/no direct input exes

No way would I go grab one of those.

He obviously means he would like one from some of the members here that regularly make them.

I've been using those builds from insertmorecoins since 0.166 and never had any issues and it comes in a x86 and x64 version. Can't go wrong with that.

When it came to mame... for years I was one of those people that just got the games I wanted to play and the classics I remembered... it wasn't until I got into using other front ends that I started getting fullsets... anyways I just went from 149 set to 161 set so I'm wondering how much has been improved or added to 169 set?

Well first of all Mame & Mess were merged during the 162 set, so a whole plethora of home computers & console games have been added. I also know that 167 had major work done on the shaders. Those are the very big updates I can remember from the top of my head.

Big jumps since 161. Like Yeuxkes said 162 was a major update with MESS merged and added big improvements to HLSL and GLSL over 161. Then 167 added another big list of improvements to HLSL/GLSL.

I remember 164 being good too.

If you just updated from 149 why did you grab 161 instead of 168 or 169?

Yeah, the shaders is what I definitely would be interested in...

I had 156.. never used it... when I get mame stuff I get it from sources that I check for so if they have what they have that's what I get... they had 161 so that's what I got but now that I know major improvements were done after 161 I will be going that route. personally with mame I'm still into the stuff I like to play so being that the games I like to actually play probably give me the same feel no matter if I was playing on a old PC from the late 90s with the first version of mame or the latest build... I don't really mind too much if it's set 149 or 169 but being that I am dealing with FULL SETS and using Hyperspin I want to make sure I have the best I can have so yeah, I will be going for that 169 or if I can't get my hand on that just yet... I'll be sure to get something better than 161.

Yeah, I don't update everytime. The games themselves don't change much. It's when the features get a big improvement and this year it's been all about better and better shaders.

169 shader wise is almost the same as 168, but thy fixed the glitches they missed in 168.

I'll probably stick with 169 until they have a major improvement to Vector games.
