It's time i made a revision of my old system to boost it up a bit, i don't have a lot to spare on mony atm with the new house coming and saving up for that 55" screen so i am reaching out to the pc tech nerds on here to help me out

i need a new motherboard and a new videocard.

have a i5 1155 socket, so it will be an older model motherboard but i want wifi on it for sure. (hate cables)

as for the video card, i want a good one. not one on steroids for now like 300 bucks! i want to run gamecube and psx and psp and maybe future proof for 3ds and ps3 (watched Simply Austins vids)

i am gonna put 8 or 16gb ram in there aswell depending on the mb and vc cost

so i have about 300 euro's to spare on this stuff if its second hand no prob, maybe you guys have stuff laying around you are willing to get rid of for a good price.

i have about 300 euro's to spare on this stuff. its not much i know but i have my processor and harddrives

Which cpu do you have?

Finding a decent 1155 mobo at decent price might not be that easy right now on "brand new stuff" but if you have a "k" cpu you really want a Z77 mobo to get the s**t out of it :P . Consider you'll need also a decent heatsink to get >4ghz (you can buy it later and avoid OC for now).

For the videocard a good compromise including windows gaming is a "cheap" gtx960 (as far as i remember it's the only videocard to have dedicated h265 encoding too, helpful with that 55' :P ) but it's in 200€-220€ range. You should pick 8gb ddr3 1866hmz for 50€ but I think the mobo will cost a bit more. I'm considering italian prices, in netherlands things might change  :P

What your wanting to do is going to be a little tough with 300 bucks. All you really need is a 4 core cpu or higher 3ghz or higher 8gigs of ram or higher and maybe a cheap graphics card and you should be able to run everything up to ps2. As for wireless internet I would just get a wireless usb network adapter.

Do you have craigslist where you live or something similar? Maybe look around on there for parts or maybe a different pc

If your CPU is K series or overclockable, get one with the features enabled on the MotherBoard.  No point in naming parts until we know this.  But for a i5, you really need to get those Ghz up!  If thats the case we can get you a cheap waterblock to get you stable.

GPU - As long as you go over 600 series nVidia you should have all the features and performance you need.  If you want more performance go for a 2nd hand one off Ebay, you can pick up great ones for a great price.  The numbers on the card say how good the card is for gaming... to put it simple.  Gaming performance starts at 50... so a 650, 750, etc etc etc.  Emulation does not need anything too fast and even PC games, unless you want to go over 1080p 60FPS on ultra on high end games, you wont need anything higher.  If the model is a nVidia Ti model, it means its a beast in the series its in.  So for example a great card, bang for buck is 750ti.  This is a great card.

Once you start to go higher you will get more perfomance, but often not needed.  I know you into your PS and design so I may be wrong here. But I am guessing your gaming off a monitor or TV that is 1080p max.  More than likely 30fps or 60fps max.  But what games do you want to play?  Emulation only uses a fraction of even a low end GPU, and more PC games will run 1080p ultra on this card with even an older i5.  On beast games you may need to drop a couple of hardly noticable settings down, like GTAV, MGSV etc  but you will not notice the dif.

If you did want to go into the say 670, 770, 780 models etc... then you start to use more power, more money and you have to think more.  Can your PSU handle it etc... it starts to get more complicated.

RAM... get 16gb if you have it left over in money.  8 minimum.  But 16 is where you want to be for futureproof.

I build this one for like 250 UK pounds, it uses a G3258 for the budget.  But as you are using a i5 (hopefully unlocked), plus have some parts from your older build you can save this kinda money.....

You could prb half this cost buying 2nd hand.  Just make sure you buy using PayPal so that if the parts do not work or you are not happy you have 100% refund

Thanks for all the info guys i appriciate it, i will look if my cpu is "k" series when i get back home in a few days, i have a sort of graigslist here to see if i can get a mobo second hand. But never knew about that "k" stuff so thanks, i am looking at a Geforce GTX 970 4gb card....brian insisted i would get that one, so maybe add an extra 100 euros to my overal price so the idea will be the new 1155 socket mobo (second hand) the gtx 970 and 16 gb ram

And Austin i seen that video thats the vid that made me think to start upgrading i wish i had more money but i can always add newer parts later. I dont know if my i-5 is unlocked. How can i see that? And i will let you guys know on the cpu and see what kinda mobo i will get with your help. Thanks again guys

A GTX 970 is going to be hard to fit in with the price as they start at 300 Euros. I put this list together, I am assuming the German sellers will ship to you but I am not 100% sure.  They are all brand new parts so you could shave some money off buying some used.

That would indeed runny any of the stable emulators of today at full speed. With the change you may get a 750ti 2nd had to see you through.

You may have to overclock for 100% emulation with the bells and whistles. Which means a good fan or cheap waterblobk cooler could be rehired. Althouh a OC to just under 4ghz MAY get you stable for now depending on stress heat.

Other than that, your pretty much future proof. It's an older CPU but still holds up on todays games and emus. I have almost same setup with a older 760 cpu giving me awesome emulation and modern gaming. This is going in my can build in future :)
