Game console Vs. Gaming pc

While it might be fun for flying games, it'll never be used for training in the aviation community because it's just so unrealistic. No matter how good the visuals it's a gimmick and it's very removed from an authentic experience. We're not even allowed to fly a real plane for a while after being in an actual simulator. Personally, I don't want to strap anything that close to my eyeballs without a much better understanding of the longterm impact VR has on the eyes and brain. I'm pretty confident that aircrew won't be allowed to use Occulus Rift or will be heavily restriced in how long before flight they have to stop using it before they're allowed to fly again.

Driving games is a really solid application though, as with a sim chair you can trick the inner ear into thinking you're moving which is pretty badass.

I'm italian and believe me, we've already elected a multimillionaire, it simply doesn't work lol.

But now the torch has been passed and the world will slowly forget about that :P

AR has little added value to gaming. If the tech gets smaller I see it being used in actual sports or recreational use in airsoft and other such pass times, amusement parks. Microsoft is betting big on their hololens. Shipping them to space to help with instructional seminars and repair work etc, if that's any sign at least MS thinks it has something with this technology. I'm not convinced of VR.. maybe the tourism industry can do something with it.

Yeh I think it has better non-entertainment applications but of course the entertainment stream, especially with all the hype around it, is an excellent source of revenue for continues development.

Any reasons why? Because the console experience can easily be had with a htpc or similar somewhere next to you're tv (even desktop in another room via chromecast or something else can be done)

Couple of wireless controllers, etc. You could even use SteamOS if you never want to see windows, or launch stuff via Kodi.

In the end I only see 4 real reasons to choose a console:

1) You're friend all have it and you want to play online with them on the same system

2) You horrible with computers and scared to touch one, let alone set stuff up or build one

3) Cheaper (to start off with and be on the same level of performance, after that you'd have to buy a little older titles when the price drops as pc games are generally cheaper, because they start off losing money on the console and make it back with Games prices/Online services/Peripherals)

4) Console exclusives (pretty weak argument imo)

Not that I have anything against console peasants xD

The only advantage I think PC truly has is higher resolutions and framerates.

-Other than indies (which definitely prevail on PC) I'd give consoles the overall win for games and exclusives. The option of buying physical or digital. When you put the game in it will actually work and be ready to play. Not having to deal with all the lameness, BS, glitches and incompatibilities with drivers, GPU's, firewalls, AV, controls on-and-on etc... No need to download and mess with additional programs to just get things to play right. Better integrated and unified online structure.

Basically the games, the lower cost, the ease of use, the lack of aggravation, the unified experience, dedicated controls, the online experience, immediate pick up and play etc...

All of that is worth far more to me than what PC brings to the table.

The only thing that really excites me about PC gaming right now is the HTC Vive (which is looking far better than the Occulus at the moment) and I might end up with one. But even then I'm just as interested in the PS4 VR setup after seeing some of the games lineup, plus the benefit of probably working right out of the box with no issues and not having a fractured user base like the Occulus/Vive already have.

Oh, well, tell this story to people who bought skyrim on ps3 lol.

Sadly unfinished titles and bugged betas these days are released even on consoles. Damn, capcom with SFV has basically released an early alpha throughout all platform... and it asks for freaking 90$ (yeah, you'll need that damn season pass as there is NO CONTENT right now...)

It is sad really. They are biting the hand that feeds them. People will get sick of this shit. It's like TTM is more important then delivering a good product. In game purchases is stupid to.you can literally loze from people who spend more money then you.. what kind of signal is that?!

Yeh second I feel like a company's trying to milk me I'm out.. Same if I feel like they're incorporating scummy skinner box tactics, like most MMOs these days.

Back to VR though. On a side note; given the ever increasing realism in current day games. would it be possible that players could end up with PTSD if playing in a VR environment?

Maybe. Some people seem more "fooled" by the experience than others. Everyone seems to fall into one of two categories, either "omg everything seems so real" or "I am very aware I'm standing here with a slab of plastic awkwardly strapped to my face." I don't think there's any more risk than with normal media or games tbh. Drone pilots have somewhat higher rates of PTSD but a lot of that's because of the context of what they're doing ie. they're very aware the explodey things they're making are real. If someone falls into that first category they could probably be pretty shaken and I think it's really all about context. If media can draw you in and make you care, it can affect you. I remember feeling very depressed when playing Dead Space 2, even though I love that game, just because I was so into the story and the environment that the over the top tragedies in the games hit hard.

Emotional responses to good stories are fundementally different from stress. I think your right though. I was reminiscing. And this post is a blatant attempt at getting a bit of promotion for my community event.

I was just checking out my Origin gameclient and they had a "ad" for the original need for speed.  From the video i viewed it looked good, "they" claiming the the visuals are 4K and the audio is high fidelity, that the framerate is unlocked its steerwheel supported, free content updates this is all on the Origin gameclint download for 59.99 (wow) and not in a good way) but the good news is if you have the Origin gameclient or want the game client this is one of those games you can try for free for 10 full hours.  No jive, thats how i fell in love in Kingdoms of Alamar and Dragon age 3.  Although love dont buy you games...lol.

I used to hate Origin. Though I haven't had to use it in a long time, in some ways it surpassed steam at some point. Better deals, better return policy. Everyone hated Steam too in it's infancy. Me personally like clients like steam, but regardless like to be able to install any game purchased without having to deal with a client like this.

I used to enjoy the convenience of games consoles until I got into PC and have to say PC Wins hands down especially the tech available nowadays Emulation kicks ass not to mention it easier to mod games and use hacks cheats or build your own games and you can do everything on a PC Multimedia wise whether be an HTPC , Gaming PC , Arcade PC HyperSpin anyone   or better yet how bout all 3 and more XBOXONE and PS4 are just PC's with restricted functionality so was the previous gen including putting Highend PC components in a small confined space with poor airflow resulting in overheating.

All is not lost the Slim model is coming new revised design come buy it , did you buy it? you did great!!! by the way this is the next gen console buy this one too :pirate:

PC maybe more of an effort to configure and setup i.e drivers , system config but is much more satisfying and rewarding and you can always upgrade later and you dont need to spend a fortune for a decent setup you can always upgrade later patience experience knowledge , satisfaction guaranteed.

XBOXONE PS4 PC = SAMETHING

On pc you will just run into more errors & inconveniences as it's a more complicated mishmash of parts running a full capable OS in stead of predefined hardware with a very limited OS. It's a trade-off, but really there are very few things that can't be overcome.
