iNTiGOD Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 Hi Ron, Firstly thank you very much for the guide. I seem to be having a problem. On loading a game e.g. Zool, I get a black screen. If i wait a couple of minutes suddenly the game loads??? Any idea what may be going wrong? PS. I have manually loaded a cue file in winuae as per the instructions earlier in the thread and I get the same result.... a blank/grey screen for a couple minutes then the game loads.
rfancella Posted November 18, 2014 Author Posted November 18, 2014 Hi Ron,Firstly thank you very much for the guide. Hmmm... That does not sound good to me. Mine loads in about 30 seconds, that includes the unzip process. Please set your Logging level to Troubleshooting in HLHQ, launch the game and as soon as it actually loads, quit. Then post your log here. To see how to set your logging level, see this post: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?31072-The-HyperNoobie-Guide-For-Posting-To-The-Fourm Thanks, Ron
iNTiGOD Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 I just retried zool but after waiting about 5 minutes nothing seemed to work (I needed to manually ctl alt del to close winuae as it wasn't responding). I tried banshee a much smaller rom and again got a black screen and after 40 seconds the game loaded. I'll also mention i'm using zero dreams console fade project and even though my roms are zipped using 7z there seems to be no progress bar?? Not sure if this has anything to do with it. Below is my log for banshee 22:03:25:939 | HL | INFO | +N/A | Main - HyperLaunch v3.0.1.1c 22:03:26:086 | HL | INFO | +140 | Main - System Specs: HyperLaunch Dir: C:\Hyperspin\Hyperlaunch OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SKU: Professional Total Memory: 2047.18 MB Free Memory: 1193.80 MB Used Memory: 853.387 MB SystemType: x64-based PC Physical Processors: 1 Logical Processors: 2 GPU 1 Name: NVIDIA GeForce 210 GPU 1 RAM: 1024.00 MB GPU 1 Driver Version: 8.17.12.9610 Sound 1 Device: NVIDIA High Definition Audio Sound 1 Status: Enabled Sound 2 Device: NVIDIA High Definition Audio Sound 2 Status: Enabled Sound 3 Device: NVIDIA High Definition Audio Sound 3 Status: Enabled Sound 4 Device: NVIDIA High Definition Audio Sound 4 Status: Enabled OS Language: English_United_States OS Admin Status: Yes Monitor #1 (\\.\DISPLAY1): 1024x768 (1024x724 work) AutoHotkey Path: C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoHotkey\AutoHotkey.exe AHK Version: 1.1.09.04 Unicode: No 22:03:26:086 | HL | INFO | +0 | Main - HyperSpin.exe coordinates are x y w h 22:03:26:087 | HL | INFO | +16 | CheckFile - Checking if C:\Hyperspin\Hyperlaunch\HyperLaunch.exe exists 22:03:26:088 | HL | DEBUG1 | +0 | CheckFile - Attributes: FileDescription Your favorite Front End companion! Amiga : amigahost.uae; ; Amiga CD : amigacdhost.uae; ; cd32mouse and cdtvmouse are for mouse controlled games on these systems, you should configure ; Windows Mouse on Port1 and a CD32 pad on Port2. For Amiga and Amiga CD make sure you set both ; a joystick and a mouse on Port1 and only a joystick on Port2. ; Set all your other preferences like video display settings. And make sure you are saving a HOST ; configuration file and not a general configuration file. ; ; If you want to configure an exit key through WinUAE: ; Host-Input-Configuration #1-RAW Keyboard and then remap the desired key to Quit Emulator. ; If you want to configure a key to toggle fullscreen/windowed mode: ; Host-Input-Configuration #1-RAW Keyboard and then remap the desired key to Toggle windowed/fullscreen. ; ; CD32 and CDTV: ; A settings file called System_Name.ini should be placed on your module dir. on that file you can define if a ; game uses mouse or if it needs the special delay hack loading method amongst other things. Example of such a file: ; ; [Lemmings (Europe)] ; UseMouse=true ; ; [Project-X & F17 Challenge (Europe)] ; DelayHack=true ; ; Amiga: ; For MultiGame support make sure you don't change the default WinUAE diskswapper keys which are: ; END+1-0 (not numeric keypad) = insert image from swapper slot 1-10 ; END+SHIFT+1-0 = insert image from swapper slot 11-20 ; END+CTRL+1-4 = select drive ; ; To do that follow the same procedure as above for the exit ; key, but on F11 set it to Toggle windowed/fullscreen. Make sure you save your configuration afterwards. ; Note : If you want to use Send commands to WinUAE for any keys that you configured through Input-Configuration panel make sure you ; set those keys for Null Keyboard! This is a virtual keyboard that collects all input events that don't come from physical ; keyboards. This applies to the exit or windowed/fullscreen keys mentioned above. ; ; If you are using WHDLoad games, but want to keep your default user-startup file after exiting then make a copy of it in the ; WHDFolder\S (Set in PathToWHDFolder) and name it default-user-startup. rfancella Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 I just retried zool but after waiting about 5 minutes nothing seemed to work (I needed to manually ctl alt del to close winuae as it wasn't responding).I tried banshee a much smaller rom and again got a black screen and after 40 seconds the game loaded. I'll also mention i'm using zero dreams console fade project and even though my roms are zipped using 7z there seems to be no progress bar?? Not sure if this has anything to do with it. Below is my log for banshee Ok, so it appears the hang is here: 22:03:34:929 | MD | DEBUG1 | +62 | FadeInExit - Ended, waiting for user to close launched application 22:04:16:984 | MD | DEBUG1 | +42058 | CloseProcess - Started, user requested to end launched application It very well may be the zerodreams fade. I have never used it so I don't know what to expect. Is there some additional logging that will shed some light?? Thanks, Ron
iNTiGOD Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 i'm not sure what other logs to submit. But I can take a look at disabling the fades in the next few days. Will let you know. Thanks Ron.
iNTiGOD Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Final update Ron. All is working really well. There were some glaring oversights on my end. Firstly when I was adding Winuae under global settings I needed to add "cue" under file format. Secondly, I had to enable 7z support for this system. All works both with and without fades.
iNTiGOD Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 Hi Ron, Hope you don't mind me posting more questions in your thread. Just need some more Amiga cd32 help. For mouse games have you had any experience using a gamepad instead of a mouse? I know its not ideal but I was hoping to use my gamepad for my htpc. It does have an analog stick so I thought I'd give it a try. I am going to to configure port 1 as my gamepad in winuae?

It does have an analog stick so I thought I'd give it a try. I am going to to configure port 1 as my gamepad in winuae? Hello, I have seen a thread where someone has a utility to convert joystick/key presses to mouse movements. I don't recall what it was called. Maybe someone reading this does?? I tried to set it up in WinUAE to use my analog stick as a mouse. Total failure. When the stick is moved, I can see the cursor move a couple pixels, but that's it. Thanks, Ron
iNTiGOD Posted December 9, 2014 Posted December 9, 2014 I ended up using xpadder and it works well. All your controller settings for winuae are left as same as in your guide. I did turn the mouse sensitivity down to 23 in xpadder though.
Takaji Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Does anyone know if there's configurable shortcut keys for save and load state in WinUAE? (Is it even supported?) Thanks!

Takaji Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Does this help? http://www.lemonamiga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=39729&sid=d05d93d68629a220814e52934b9218d5 Thanks, but I followed the directions in that thread and still couldn't find anything related to a quick save/quick restore... I looked through all the options in the properties window, but don't see anything. Given that the thread you linked is from 2007, maybe it's changed?
gigapig Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I Have managed it, what controller are you using? I'm basing this on the 360 controller. So first thing is to back up your config, so go to your host folder and back up. Switch on your Controller. Firstly load up your Amiga config. Click on the input tab, choose configuration 1 and makes sure the 360 is selected at the top. Highlight the button you would like to use (Button 5 in the screen shot), I used the L & R buttons for quick save a quick restore, so that's buttons 5 & 6. Under the main window click the large drop down where it show "None" scroll down to find what key or action you want, Quick Save State is near the bottom. Do the same for each of the other buttons you wish to map. Here are the 5 button maps I did which was enough to play Agony and save and restore, I now need to find the files and see if one each created for each game. Let me know how you get on.
Yardley Posted January 31, 2015 Posted January 31, 2015 Thanks for the guide! Question, do different games display differently on the screen? In the screen shot below Akira takes up mostly the upper half of the screen while other games like Banshee take up the entire screen.
rfancella Posted February 1, 2015 Author Posted February 1, 2015 Thanks for the guide! Question, do different games display differently on the screen? In the screen shot below Akira takes up mostly the upper half of the screen while other games like Banshee take up the entire screen. Mine is like that as well. I believe it has to do with the original resolution the game is designed to run in. If you run full screen instead of bezels, it should show correctly. Or use WinUAE Loader. Thanks, Ron Next week i'll look deeper and see if there is a way to have it fill the emu window.
Styphelus Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Same problem here. Some like Fire and Ice have a huge black bar on the left side as well but I was trying a few games last night and there were quite a few that would display like the screenshot above. Will try WinUAE Loader tonight.
Yardley Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 The only work around I have found is to go into the filter settings and play with the horizontal and vertical sliders. This of course would need to be done on a per game basis so it would need to be implemented into the module.
Styphelus Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 There's no WinUAE Loader module for this system!!!! Arrgghhhh!!! Hope rfancella can find a solution for this system. If anyone can, it's him. FS-UAE seems to work somewhat better but I haven't found a way to make it read my custom config file. Edit. Ok, got it working for the most part with FS-UAE. Had to manually create a config file with all the settings I wanted.
gigapig Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 So you have this crap. So how do you achieve this high quality look to your CD32 games? Firstly you need to be daring and handsome. Then you need to fire up Winuae and load up your config. On the left select filter. Then look to the far right, it probably says "No Scaling", change it to "Automatic scaling" and save your config. All done.
rfancella Posted February 5, 2015 Author Posted February 5, 2015 Hells yeah Giga! I'll add that to the guides. Thanks, Ron
gigapig Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Hells yeah Giga!I'll add that to the guides. Thanks, Ron Cool Ron, did you test it? It worked well my end, better than auto integer which didn't work with all the games I tested. But yeah, very happy with the results.

It worked well my end, better than auto integer which didn't work with all the games I tested. But yeah, very happy with the results. Giga, No, did not work for me. Can you send me your uae file to compare? Along with a HL log of the launch? Thanks, Ron
Styphelus Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Gigapig needs to upload his complete emulators folder for every system to a dropbox somewhere and everyone on these boards will live happily ever after.

Styphelus Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Perfect. Thanks Gigapig. One more system down!
