Very cool.

Did 176 make any major changes to working MAME games? HLSL or GLSL improvements?

I looked through the changelog, but didn't really see anything but MESS fixes.

Any chance you could do a nonog + hiscore + directinput with this dual gun fix? I'd really appreciate it!

not a fan of the built in hiscore plugin for mame?

dinput can be force in mame.ini now but it detect raw and d fine with no issur on auto

I think he just said you can enable Direct Input in the ini in the post you just quoted.

So my current mame.ini (160) doesn't have a "lightgun provider" section. What's the best way to update your mame.ini, without losing customizations?

anything after 171+ you have to use a fresh install to make it work, everything change after that version then place the compilied exe that is from here then you are set.... i know that there are several shader changes that you need to be aware of but i personally dont know them.

if your want to use your old setup, i would use things at your own risk. ldont know what effect old setting will do

Have the patched MAME working outside of Rocketlauncher but when I try to launch a game trough RL using this MAME version I get a module error? Everything works and launches fine with the standard .176 version from mamedev.

what mode do you have rl running in module for mame?

What do you mean?

He means your module settings for MAME. What mode do you have it set to run in? Legacy? Normal? (I can't remember the options)etc...

Thanks, sorry, didn't know where to find those settings. Legacy mode is set to default.

if still doesnt work, i would turn off your hlsl or gsl setting in the module, the module does not support how 176 use them now... it needs to be updated

Thanks for this! What is the purpose of "lightgun provider = auto"? Does MAME still freak out and wipe out the controls if you have lightguns configured and you start it up without having them plugged in?

Would you mind sharing how you patch MAME to remove the gameinfo? I'm aware of how to patch the nonag/hiscore diff from arcadecontrols, however, the output exe still has the whitebox and initializing message when launched. I can manually disable this via the gameinfo mame.ini setting, but I see you removed it at the compile level. 

 

Could you please share how?

you have to edit multiple files and it not something short and easy to do...

it changes with every update of mame, so it not as simple as using a diff file to make the change. anything that has to be done by hand and searching certain area of the code...
