ePSXe 1.9 Long rom loading

I've just setup ePSXe 1.9 and its running fine outside HyperSpin but my problem is when i load a game in Hyperspin it takes 30 seconds to load the game. Anyone know why this could be happening?.

Voyagerxp your running it on a laptop is that right?

I will have to test it also but I think 30 seconds is about right seeing as the game is being extracted then mounted in DT.

The speed at which the game starts will also depend on your PC, if you have a fast processor and an SSD or fast hard drive then it will be extracted quicker.

I found this post amusing. With all the thing hyperspin/hyperlaunch does loading a game in 30 seconds is a long time? It would take you longer to locate the actually CD itself and put it in a playstation and fire it up. All kidding aside...I use to run some of my games over wireless on a network drive to a NAS and larger games would take 60 or more seconds (I use to change the timeout in the modules because it would take so long). 30 seconds on a laptop to extract, mount, launch a emulator seems more than reasonable. Not sure how much faster you need it to be. Are you switching to a different frequently so it seems like a long time to load? Maybe you need more intro vids for your games so you can see what they are about vs loading them up to view them.

Is it not any of these 3 then maybe upgrade that? Get a larger disk so you do not need to compress your games? You can get 4tb for not a lot of money. How fast is it if you do not have it zipped? I would look there too.

Ya i'm using a laptop, Asus G73JH gaming laptop with Intel Core i7, 8gb ddr3, ssd C:drive, hybrid ssd D:drive & Radeon® HD 5870. The hyperspin i'm using is a test setup as my main hyperspin is still on 1.0 and wanted to get used to the new features and setup before i change my old setup. ePSXe 1.9 on my main setup does not take this long.

That makes sense. Is it faster without having them compressed? Mine loads in 5 to 10 seconds with no compression. Could save you 20 or so seconds.

Your D:\ is a hybrid drive though based on the specs for the system it doesn't come stock with 2 hard drives. So I am guessing you added one, specifically the hybrid SSD. Is that connected to the computer via a eSata or onboard Sata connection, like inplace of the BDRom? Or are you running that over USB2/3?

Nope, my Asus G73 Came with two sata 500gb 7200rpm hard drives but i swapped them with a 80GB SSD for C and 500GB SSD Hybrid for D. My main HyperSpin setup on my HTPC has a SSD for C with my windows operating system & XBMC and a Seagate Barracuda 4TB 5900RPM SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache which as my Hyperspin & roms.

Today updated my main Hyerspin system from 1.0 to latest and my psx roms were still as slow as they were on my laptop but i've found out that it loads quicker with Fade in set to true.

Is fade in just tricking your brain into thinking it's quicker because you've got something pretty to look at? Change the pic to this and see how long it takes.

I am having the same problem since updating to RL. Outside of hyperlaunch the games load instantly within epsxe, but for some reason it takes about 45 seconds to even get to the start credits screen of the game when hyperlaunch is used. My games are unzipped to so no time needed for that process. But oh well. After spending a few days just trying to figure this out, doing the git update, then doing some shared.ahk stuff that some other thread suggested, then having hyperspin not launch at all, then having to do a system restore to before I installed git - I'm happy to just have hyperspin working again lol! I can wait the 45 seconds for now. But there is definitely something going on.

i have also the same problem. something in the ahk file ? i think. works quick outside HS but takes 30 to 45 seconds to start from within HS

It is getting hung on on rom map creation. Just FYI, this is fixed in the next HL update. Nothing I can do for you now except try toggling rom mapping to see if it helps.

No need to be an asshole about it.

Same thing happens to me. The proof in the pudding that it's something to do with Hyperlaunch is that if you launch a rom directly from the emulator it launches instantly.

Hi guys, setting Multigame / General options to TRUE didnt fix it here for me, its still around 20-30 seconds to startup from HS. Outside HS it starts imidiately.

Meanwhile, until its fixed, is it possible to add a loadscreen instead activated imidiately after pressing the enter key ?
