Lamaman1971 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 So, as Im running Windows 7 I dont want to run my cabinet entirely without AV. However, Im using AVG at the moment and the pop-ups are an annoyance. Has anyone landed on an AV solution which is best suited for Windows based cabinet installs (with all the associated exclusions of course), Mark
THK Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Maybe just use Microsoft Security Essentials? Isn't that free for win7? I know AVG, Avast & Avira have the same pop-up thing going. Not familiar with anything else. ..........................back with a vengeance........................
gigapig Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 I dislike all AV and I don't intend to be searching for porn or Brittany Spear naked on my new cocktail table. If I give the wife one over it then I'll be sure to put a towel down. So I'll just use what comes with windows 10 and may even shut off Windows defender anyway. But if you have to then I agree with THK but maybe you need to download it though for W7.
dark13 Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 IF the cabinet is offline you don't need an antivirus, if the cabinet is online you need it. Many antivirus are pop up-free when buying the premium version. Automatizing infopanels creation from .csv files for HTPCs themes (look at infopanel tutorial.zip on the ftp in dark13 folder) PNGs to SWFs automatized flash scripts Hyperspin Wheelset automatized template (photoshop's variables + batch) Aeon nox 4.13 W.I.P. hyperspin skin
Metalzoic Posted October 26, 2016 Posted October 26, 2016 Just use Windows Security Essentials (7) or Windows Defender (10). Work great and don't cause any BS that others can. You'll just need to make exceptions for some HS/RL stuff.
Lamaman1971 Posted October 26, 2016 Author Posted October 26, 2016 Thanks everyone - I have to confess that Im still a little uncomfortable running without AV software. That said, I hadnt considered the MS AV as an alternative but I will take a look! Cheers Mark
Metalzoic Posted October 27, 2016 Posted October 27, 2016 It's already built into windows. Just turn it on. Sent from my SM-G935V
