Which mame version? For instance my video card conflicts with some mame versions and actually crash the whole computer lol. The computer running on xp, the last version it could run is 149. It's probably some combo to this same thing. You probably need to update your computer?

Defender is off for sure

im thinking this might be a video card issue...it only crashes when launching a game....same inside HS...

video settings in UI should be just set to default? I'm going to try to go back to scratch and see if I can dictate the problem

It's def a mame issue, retroarch launches fine etc.

can someone tell me the stock settings for mameuifx mainly concerning with video/display.

and also settings in rocketlauncher because I think somebody was messing around...grrrr.

mainly rocketlauncher - rom check?/7z enabled?legacy mode?/etc...if someone can help me out with those that would be great, I'm sure I can figure this out

Have you added anything to your system since it was working? VJoy can cause things to crash like that, but I don't think it conflicts with MAMEUIFX.

Add any other programs, drivers etc...?

Negative.  Went to sleep woke up, later that night went to smash some games, and noticed my setup was haywire.

When you go to the doctors and say " doc, I've got something seriously wrong with my asshole" and the doc responds probing questions about nocturnal activities .

So as Ninja asked, what did you do before the incident ?

I personally would go to the mame site and get the full install, extract it and run it. if it run's you know it's  your install. You can then drop the Arcade64  (successor to mameuifx ) into your new install and then copy over some of the other folders, one at a time, testing after each transfer. If it crashes after moving one then you have found the culprit .

That was the first thing I tried

i went to uifx , downloaded a fresh one, ran it on the desktop, as soon as I load a rom, it will crash.

i was doing nothing up until it happened, I was literally playing some games a few days before, came back, fired up the machine yesterday to a crap show.

diesnt make sense that a fresh install would also be crashing...retroarch runs fine/dolphin etc.

I disabled auto update I'm Windows 10, I'll check what it's on tonight and report back.

im running an and Radeon 6670, deleted the drivers and reinstalled to an older version in case the drivers went nuts.

I think the plan is to start with the Ini and cfg files, make backups and delete them and see if that will trick it to work.

why is it always when things run good something goes haywire lol.

thanks for the ideas I'll report back!!

@thenoob

Make sure to read the posts people are adding here for you. The solutions are all in there.

MAMEUIFX is no longer being developed. I'd advise you to ditch that and move to another build of MAME.

Gigapig suggested you go to the MAME website and download the official MAME release. That's the first thing you need to do, before moving on to other builds.

Do that, and let us know how you get on.
