thenoob Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 I'm pulling my hair out yelling. Why all of a sudden is Windows crashing mameuifx? i even downloaded a fresh start and same thing, can't even launch it. I've tried 7 different downloads same thing happens testing in stand alone mode set rom directory refresh games select game to launch CRASH. rinse repeat. wtf is going on here? Everything has been fine??!?
ninja2bceen Posted November 11, 2016 Posted November 11, 2016 Which mame version? For instance my video card conflicts with some mame versions and actually crash the whole computer lol. The computer running on xp, the last version it could run is 149. It's probably some combo to this same thing. You probably need to update your computer? thenoob Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 Defender is off for sure im thinking this might be a video card issue...it only crashes when launching a game....same inside HS... video settings in UI should be just set to default? I'm going to try to go back to scratch and see if I can dictate the problem
thenoob Posted November 11, 2016 Author Posted November 11, 2016 It's def a mame issue, retroarch launches fine etc. can someone tell me the stock settings for mameuifx mainly concerning with video/display. and also settings in rocketlauncher because I think somebody was messing around...grrrr. mainly rocketlauncher - rom check?/7z enabled?legacy mode?/etc...if someone can help me out with those that would be great, I'm sure I can figure this out
Metalzoic Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Have you added anything to your system since it was working? VJoy can cause things to crash like that, but I don't think it conflicts with MAMEUIFX. Add any other programs, drivers etc...?
iNTiGOD Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 Make a backup of your mameuifx config files then delete them.Could be a conflicting setting? MAME High Score Tutorial For HyperSpin
thenoob Posted November 12, 2016 Author Posted November 12, 2016 Will do. so just the files in the cfg folder inside mameuifx folder?

Went to sleep woke up, later that night went to smash some games, and noticed my setup was haywire.

gigapig Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 When you go to the doctors and say " doc, I've got something seriously wrong with my asshole" and the doc responds probing questions about nocturnal activities . So as Ninja asked, what did you do before the incident ? I personally would go to the mame site and get the full install, extract it and run it. if it run's you know it's your install. You can then drop the Arcade64 (successor to mameuifx ) into your new install and then copy over some of the other folders, one at a time, testing after each transfer. If it crashes after moving one then you have found the culprit .
thenoob Posted November 12, 2016 Author Posted November 12, 2016 That was the first thing I tried i went to uifx , downloaded a fresh one, ran it on the desktop, as soon as I load a rom, it will crash. i was doing nothing up until it happened, I was literally playing some games a few days before, came back, fired up the machine yesterday to a crap show. diesnt make sense that a fresh install would also be crashing...retroarch runs fine/dolphin etc.
ninja2bceen Posted November 12, 2016 Posted November 12, 2016 What version of mame? Have you deleted the ini yet to try? What's your video card? What update are you on for Windows 10? They auto update you know Advance the cause to 100%. http://hyperbase.hyperspin-fe.com/ Planet Geekdom, Subscribe for Tutorials! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCdcby-s2GwriaOHGmVC2vGA?sub_confirmation=1&app=desktop
thenoob Posted November 12, 2016 Author Posted November 12, 2016 I disabled auto update I'm Windows 10, I'll check what it's on tonight and report back. im running an and Radeon 6670, deleted the drivers and reinstalled to an older version in case the drivers went nuts. I think the plan is to start with the Ini and cfg files, make backups and delete them and see if that will trick it to work. why is it always when things run good something goes haywire lol. thanks for the ideas I'll report back!!
Metalzoic Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Win 10 on my cab updated to the latest 10 release today and every thing all still works good, so I don't think it's that.
Metalzoic Posted November 13, 2016 Posted November 13, 2016 Did you check your AV to be sure it isn't quarantining a file MAME needs?
thenoob Posted November 16, 2016 Author Posted November 16, 2016 Hmmm not sure how to do that. but I did d/l a brand new build and the same crap is happening
Guest Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 @thenoobMake sure to read the posts people are adding here for you. The solutions are all in there.MAMEUIFX is no longer being developed. I'd advise you to ditch that and move to another build of MAME.Gigapig suggested you go to the MAME website and download the official MAME release. That's the first thing you need to do, before moving on to other builds.Do that, and let us know how you get on. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
gigapig Posted November 16, 2016 Posted November 16, 2016 Directx, gpu drivers, audio drivers? Have you checked all those?
thenoob Posted November 17, 2016 Author Posted November 17, 2016 Yes. i went back with video drivers to a previous version. I think I'll get it soon here. Fingers crossed
