demonseed Posted February 6, 2017 Posted February 6, 2017 My sons xbox 360 games are mostly scratched and often freeze or don't play. Is there a machine that works to fix them? I have read a lot I bad reviews on machines, and homemade fixes. Is there any methods that actually work?
Agrajag Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I've successfully repaired a few audio CDs in the past using car polish (T-Cut) to smooth the scratched area.Put a small amount on a soft cloth and rub the disc in a straight line from the edge to the centre (i.e. along the radius). Don't rub in the direction of rotation as that can make it worse. HyperSpin behaving oddly? demonseed Posted February 7, 2017 Author Posted February 7, 2017 I wish CDs were more durable. I read online that Microsoft went cheap and did not pay manufactures the extra 25-50 cents a disk to add better protective coating. Not sure if that's true. I have read the car polish method but was very nervous to try.
Asparky Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 I've used Toothpaste before now, Polishes them up a treat.
Asparky Posted February 7, 2017 Posted February 7, 2017 As Toothpaste is a mild abrasive, it acts as a fine polish. When I use it on CD's / DVD's, I use a small blob and a Baby Wipe, in a small circular motion, cleaning off with a soft cloth. It is also good, at restoring faded Headlight Lens, the plastic type, using the same Method. At a push, I've even used it on small areas of respray I've done on cars, when I havent any rubbing compound.
Guest Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 Some game retailers have CD cleaning machines - try there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeuxkes Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 I've used one of those homemade tools a couple of times and it's hit and miss depending on how severely damaged the disc is. Light scratches can be buffed out pretty easily but if there are very large and thick scratches you usually are out of luck repairing the disc. The key is to only do small steps at a time and go in another time if you still have problems loading the game.
KlopjerO Posted February 8, 2017 Posted February 8, 2017 As long as the printed side is not scratched you should be able to recover the disc..
