The HyperSpin 2 beta is here!

We’re starting the first public testing phase with Platinum Members to keep the scope manageable while we test the current feature set and begin to add more. In the future, we’ll provide a version for basic members as well.  On behalf of the entire HyperSpin team, we look forward to another exciting adventure with our community.

Passive fan

Anyone have experience adding a passive fan to the back of their already made cabinet? What tool did you use? Got any tips or instructions? I've seen like a star looking shape etc.

I would just make sure you've got air vents near the top (the back is fine) and the bottom. If you're nervous about it, stick a thermometer inside the cab and play some high-end games for a bit to push the system. Most people don't know that PCs can operate in pretty extreme temperatures, well in excess of 100 degrees farenheit (assuming active CPU cooling).

Mine really needs a fan as the monitor gives off quite a lot of heat when the lid is closed.

Is anyone going to see it? If not I would just cut a hole with a jigsaw depending on the fan size. A smaller fan you could use a hole saw in a drill which would be quicker.

I have 2 led fans from yodobashi and fix it back of cabinet but never turn it on because they use 3 pins , and I don't know where is the ass to plug this into. Normal PC fans are with 4 pins.

If your fans only have 3 pins it means they aren't PWM controlled. Not all fans come with that extra cable.

Also to the OP, there is no such thing as a passive fan. You either cool passively without a fan or have active cooling with a fan. But yeah what Griffin said, bench your system to see what temps you are getting and add airflow if it gets too hot. Besides nowadays cpus and gpus have thermal throttling. This means they will clock themselves down if they get too hot or in extreme cases just shut down the entire system.
