drshaw
I go to download the genre's, for NES let's say, and I can download each particular genre's xml but where do I get the main genre.xml for NES? I'm using the .dat and database.xml from hyperlist on all my systems but genre doesn't work on any of them. Thanks in advance.
Lashek
See the "Databases/MAME/Genre.xml" file You create a Genre.xml file and inside it, you name your lists (in this example, I have 2 lists. One called Zapper Games.xml and one called Role-Playing Games.xml) <menu> <game name="All Games"/> <game name="Zapper Games"/> <game name="Role-Playing Games"/> </menu> A "master list" will eventually be added to HyperList's genre list creation. drshaw
Great, thanks
drshaw
Yeah, the "master list" would be helpful, also downloading a zip of all of them would be nice too. Click on 30 different downloads for 10 different systems can get laborious!
Lashek
LOL. So true. Both features are planned for an upcoming update, possibly the revision after next.
007craft
It's been 4 years, how do I download the genres as a pack? I have 55 systems to download for and with all the genres, that's about 1000 links I need to click. Isint there just a 100mb.zip file of every system with every genre I can download and then just go about deleting the ones I don't need?
BroodOvermind
bumping this thread. I'm sure there must be a way to sync these database genre things by now right? I'm up to 76 consoles but only very few genre's set up

JoyStickKilla
What's the issue?
BarryEvans
I agree with some of the comments above. Having the genres set up isn't vitally important, but it's nice to be able to do. It does take an awful lot of time downloading each genre for each system and moving them to the correct place. It would be great if someone could bundle all the genre files together, separated by system and upload it as a single file so users can get them a bit more easily. Still, it's a small thing in the great scheme. Wouldn't want to be seen to be moaning about something so small given what is on offer. Quickly fallen in love with this outstanding system!! KillaBLK
Is it possible to create a menu within a menu? I am just starting my genre xml experiment. I like the idea of having say a gun genre, then within that have different genres. Can it be done simply with Notepad ++?
Bungles
If you are going to cross platforms it can get a little tricky. If you are talking about 3 or more levels of Menu I think it only works if you use that thing with adds another Hyperspin and it closes/opens each version? KillaBLK
Would that be done in HyperHQ in the Startup/Exit tab? What about if you wanted to have sub menu wheels? How do you create them? Then what do you do with the artwork for them to draw from?
Bungles
I am not sure whom created it and set it up but I think there is a download somewhere and instructions. Cant seem to find it but perhaps someone else can assist. It just launches a new Hyperspin where the wheels are on the left allowing for Grouping of things..It seemed pretty seemless and clever. thatman84
I think this is what @Bungles is refering to. It allows for multiple levels of Hyperspin menus by launching multipl instances of Hyperspin.
KillaBLK
Oh nice! I think this is exactly what I was imagining. This looks like a game changer! Thanks guys.
