It has a spinning CD on a moving stars background with the words "Neo Geo CD" flying around and then the words settle under the CD and the CD changes to the Neo Geo CD logo. 2 hours ago, badboo said: The same for me, when you press F1 to go to the Retroarch setting, you go instead to the original MAME setup. I haven't changed the controll's buttons because I am using an arcade stick and it is ok the way it is. I think this is because of the way this core was programmed. Well, I can still pull up the RA menu with F1... and all that is set fine. Pushing TAB though I pull up the MAME config menu. The problem is I map everything to the keyboard, and then to xpadder. I can't play at all without changing the controls because there are so many conflicts. For instance: TAB on MAME is "Configuration Menu" but in my RetroArch TAB = Reset. So I just need to figure out how to make it save the changes I make to the MAME configuration and I will be golden. Hell I think it will wipe out like 5 or 6 systems I have queued up in my to-do list actually.

I just need some help saving the changes I make to the MAME configuration so I can actually play the games.
thatman84 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Retroarch outputs controller cfg files to the saves/MAME directory by default I learnt recently. the default.cfg is the base settings and ui.cfg also check for the files in the above place and if your not seeing anything maybe check you have all the folders needed for MAME in the system/MAME folder. It should match the normal MAME setup. Turn on "read & write" configurations in core options for this stuff to take affect then there are the machine/game specific ones I believe. I'm not great at that stuff I'm spending most of my time working/sleeping or messing with border overlays and rom hunting. So should I just install the newest version of mame in Retroarch\system\MAME ??
thatman84 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Nope. Copy the folders from a standard mame install into you r RA system/mame folder. Matching the mame creation to the RA core version. Thinks it's .183 turn read write on in core options. boot a game up, maybe change one "input this machine" option and exit. Have a look for the files in saves/mame directory Official Hyperspin Tutorials Playlist HS Android Overview & Install HS Android Base Pack Download My Tutorials
Guest Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Still amazes me why people fight with MAME core in RA - when the experience is so, so much better with MAME directly. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Nothing is better than RetroArch's experience (IMO) Everything is setup with the same controls, same hotkeys, same shaders, sound options, video options, etc etc. Honestly it wouldn't be much of a fight if these little steps were documented like... anywhere, on the libretro site... Meanwhile MAME stand-alone won't work with Xpadder without re-compiling the stupid thing and that's no easy task (I don't care who says differently) and the whole UI is reminiscent of DOS, and is incredibly confusing. Plus you have that stupid nag-screen that you have to get a special version, or again, recompile to get rid of. Again, that's just my opinion... after trying to setup MAME several times on my setup. I'm sure it's different if I was using an arcade cabinet or something, but with the console I'm building it's just a total disaster. Comped to RetroArch which is running 50+ systems with universal settings and plays wonderfully with Xpadder. 45 minutes ago, thatman84 said: Nope. thatman84 Posted March 17, 2017 Posted March 17, 2017 Put it all in there to start and delete as needed it won't make much difference. A MAME.ini is unconfirmed needed! Your right about the documentation. have look at my Atari 5200 guide in android section. It covers some of these steps. And I am using an Xbox 360 arcade stick, so I don't use xpadder for MAME or Retroarch. Still, I need to explore a bit more of the MAME Core because I still prefer to use Retroarch. I don't care what tonesmalone says lol

All changes are saved under system/mame folder. Aorin
