Nintendo 64 "REAL" 3D Box pack!

********************************** NEW INFO *********************************

Ok, so I decided I will try to do a REAL 3d box set, like the one we did with @SupraKarma :)

I am now at the point of collecting all the left side spines I can get from the set I have of 303 games. I will be leaving a list of the ones I cannot find, so anybody can help out!

I haven't decided yet whether I will be using a regular 2D cover set, or trying to get the front scans as well for added 'realness'. We'll see (if anybody has the 2d scanned covers set, please do share).

This project will take a while (if I end up finishing it), as I do not have either much time nor complete scans, but separated spines and covers in different files, so besides getting all the material, I need to create each template for each game manually.

Finished box will look something like this:

If anybody wants to join the project, let me know as I could use a hand or two :)

********************************** OLD POST BELOW *********************************

Seems today I am putting my engines at full power :D

I grabbed @koolbrez67 Nintendo 64 3d box pack (thank you!), and applied a quick template to it (very similar to the Famicom one I made).
This template adds lights, shadows, different perspective and the box top lid.
I wanted to make the pack with the real spines, but I do not have the strength to look for each one of them over the web at the moment.

If it's ok with @koolbrez67, I will upload the pack as a standalone tomorrow.

Cheers!

Ok, I am stuck in an airport for the next 5 or so hours until my flight leaves, so I am killing time by making some improvements over this set. If I am happy with the results in a short while, I will be uploading it (I haven't heard from koolbrez, so buddy; if you see this and want the pack to be taken down, let me know).

If only I could get all the real spines from a unique source and with a similar scan/layout...
The only site I found with good quality scans is MobyGames, but they are not hosted in an easy way; I would need to access one game at a time, and then select the "Cover Art" section, and then select the "Spine/Side" section inside...

Oh well...

EDIT:
Just did a manual test using the real spine and front cover scans from Moby Games with the box template action.
LEFT is koolbrez with my improvements, RIGHT is left and front scans with template action:

If I man up and decide to make all 300+ boxes with faithful spines, I will store the 2D scans and upload them as well.

EDIT: I manned up. I am now collecting the assets. Check the first post for more info. Helpers/scavengers are welcome!

I am up to letter D in spines gathering.
The below are the ones I am missing at the moment.
Needs to be LEFT side box scans, and as high quality as they can be found:

Army Men - Sarge's Heroes 2 (USA)
Asteroids Hyper 64 (USA)
Bassmasters 2000 (USA)
Battlezone - Rise of the Black Dogs (USA)
Big Mountain 2000 (USA)
Bomberman 64 - The Second Attack! (USA)
Bottom of the 9th (USA)
Brunswick Circuit Pro Bowling (USA)
Bust-A-Move '99 (USA)
California Speed (USA)
Centre Court Tennis (Europe)
Charlie Blast's Territory (USA)
Clay Fighter - Sculptor's Cut (USA)
Cruis'n Exotica (USA)
CyberTiger (USA)
Donald Duck - Goin' Quackers (USA) (En,Fr,De,Es,It)
Dr. Mario 64 (USA)
Duck Dodgers Starring Daffy Duck (USA) (En,Fr,Es)

EDIT: I managed to get ALL the front cover scans! I do not have them correctly named, but oh well.
Did a test to see how the mobygames spines got along with the scans I got:

UPDATE:

I stumbled upon a site called Nintandbox, which has the blueprints for Nintendo games boxes; this is better than what I was doing (gathering the different spine and cover scans from different sources), as these Nintandbox scans have the same overall colors and light levels, and will make the spine and front cover merge better.

Also, since all of them are placed in the same way, I can easily make an action to trim the spines and covers and bulk it to do it for all the games in a couple of minutes.
Then, I can apply another bulked action to generate the 3d boxes, and finally add the last actions to add some extra shadows/lights.

The only step that is taking all my time is the gathering of these scans. The way Nintandbox site is built, you need to download the A3 scans one at a time (which is what I am doing), so, again, if somebody wants to help and download A3 size American Box scans, please do so by starting from the letter Z and up. You can then send me a zip file with the scans through a private message. Any help is more than welcome (whether it is 50 scans, 5, or even 1). If you do want to help, please post it here so nobody gets overlapped. I'll keep going from letter A down (I am currently up to start letter C).

I am enjoying this project so far, and the final product will look great.

You weren't lying about the 1 download at a time thing... there's some sort of weird throttling going on here. These guys must really not want people downloading entire sets. :)

These are exremely high quality  (UHD) scans also, great find.

You rock Paul!! Thanks a lot!

I am getting the A3 versions, not the A4 (quality purposes), and all the American Box versions. I will do a second sweep later on with the missing ones and/or the Europe ones.

This site is ridiculous... the downloads fail half the time, and they place limits on how many downloads per day, and counts the failed downloads. And they try to limit how many times you ca download the same file to 10. If bandwidth is an issue for them, they should fix the broken downloads issue so people aren't wasting bandwidth.

When you get these files prepped you should upload them so others can use them as source art like we did with the SNES project... these scans are great but they sure make you jump through some hoops to get them. :)

For sure. I used to get them all failed or broken, until I started doing only one download at a time. So i filter by box and America, then open in new tabs each game for one specific letter, then reach all the box pages until the checkmark of "Agree" point, but then I only go one at a time, and before the file is not fully downloaded, I do not click on the next "Agree" one. Doing that lets me get them ok. Super bizarre.

This NintAndBox site is amazing.  I will see if I can come up with a way to use my vpn to assist getting these assets downloaded.  Are you guys adding them to hypervault or have them somewhere else?

Well I do not know how much help I will be creating the boxes, as you are doing an amazing job BUT I would love to help the downloading process as it seems very tedious.  Is there a spreadsheet showing what each of us is to be downloading with our 10 downloads a day so that we are not replicating work?

I can help, just need to know which ones to get.  I will up them to mega once I have them.

Then, where can I upload the images once I have them downloaded so that you can use them?

Its 100 per day :) The 10 limit is for the same file/box.

Supra offered to do from the T down, so if you want to help, you can do from the S up. Makes sense?
We are getting the A3 version (not the A4), and the American variation, not the European nor Asian.

Any help you can give (even if it is one scan) is more than welcome.

For the share, you can send them over wetransfer.com (it supports up to 2GB of files for free). If you have another idea for sharing, I'm all eyes.

You can have 100 download attempts a day, you can only attempt to download the same fail 10 times.

I'm uploading T - Z as we speak, a link will be up shortly.

Of Dang, Supra, you may get it done before I even get home from work haha.  I will start now.

Edit, I see, there are not that many there.  Should be done shortly if my downloads work.

Thanks guys!

@SupraKarma I am getting a 404 on your link, but then again, I am in my work's network, so it might be getting restricted.

I will try to download all the remaining ones this weekend.
