You can try this video.

Remember that the Frontend usually provides you the interface basically, most, I mean 99% of the configuration that will actually launch the emulators, PC games and such are set in RocketLauncher.

The more information, the better for us to help.

Feel free to post your difficulties here.

HS log is of no use in this case. You would need to post an RL log (set to troubleshooting). And it's probably better to post it over on the RL forums (use pastebin) although there may be someone here who can help.

I can say that the general workflow is:

1. make sure game loads in emu itself (or it will never run through HS/RL)

2. make sure game loads through RL (or it will never run through HS)

3. then try game in HS

If you are only stuck on #3, then there is a really high chance it's a setting in HQ. Do you use any filters? Do you have rompath and extensions set (but NOT emu path!)?

It loads in the emu

it loads in RL

I have the emulator path set and the rom path set

HS just doesn't do anything when I try and open a game

Ok so i gave RL administrative rights and it launches the emulator for a second the game starts but it then just kicks me back to the whell.

I have set the emu path in HQ and the rom path in HQ that didn't help

the emu launches I see the game start to run and then I'm back in HS

Maybe I could have been clearer, do NOT set an emu path in HQ! Settings in here are just to populate the wheel (rompath and extension). I am not sure why it messes things up since RL is doing the launching but it just does.

Ok I took them out of HQ but its still the same, I appreciate the help, I tried another game and it gave me the start up screen but then kicked me back to HS

why exactly do you need to give any program administrative rights

if your emulator is staring to the point where you can see a start up screen then

You should launch HS and your emulator in window mode to see if you have any pop up windows that kill your emulator when loading.

and you should consider reducing your user account control settings on your windows environment so that you do not  need to give permissions to programs you have installed

I hate to be nit picky, but not sure what you mean by "them". I only wanted you to take out the emulator path, the other two are needed if you plan to use any filters.

Anyway, I am not that good with the logs so hopefully someone will look at the one you posted on the RL forums. It sounds like the emulator is in fact loading though, just behind HS????

I also notice that you are running things from ../user/desktop/  I am sure you will have to run as admin for anything in any "system" folder. I would recommend staying away from any directory made by windows.

Thank you all for the help the guys over at rocketlauncher said everything on there end looked good and that I hit the button to exit the emulator although the only button i pressed was the one to launch the game.  This is not the final setup I'm going to run this on so I think I'll set up the computer I'm going to run it on and see if I can get it working on that computer.

The same thing was happening to me. When I tried to start a game it went back to the wheel.

1. Try starting the game in mame itself to see if there is any bios missing for said games. If so, get them.

2. where you set the emulator and rom paths in HQ there is an option that says "extensions" and you have to put zip, 7z in that window.

Those were my two problems. After I fixed that, it stopped. I have the rom/emu path set in both RL and HQ and mine works fine.

Not sure if it would help but like I said, same problems for me until I did what I did.
