tonycawa Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 Okay, here it goes! This is my first post to the forums. So far all the threads I have read have been really helpful and I have gotten most of my setups done with ease! When it came to Popcap games most of the threads were hard to follow and only answered a specific question. There were no videos on the web or a start to finish guide. After failing a few times I was able to get it running really..i mean really easy with no editing of scripts or compiling. I am sure you can if you want to add special functions but this is a guide for an easy install of popcap. 1. Create a popcap folder in emulators folder C:Hyperspin\Emulators\PopCap Within this folder I pasted all my game folders i.e. C:Hyperspin\Emulators\PopCap\Bejewled\ 2. Create a folder in the Popcap folder named Roms C:Hyperspin\Emulators\PopCap\Roms Within this folder paste shortcuts for all the games .exe files i.e. C:Hyperspin\Emulators\PopCap\Roms\bejewled.lnk remember to rename the shortcut so it just has the game name (note: by default all shortcuts are .lnk there is no need to do anything for that) 3. Create a folder in your database folder called PopCap 4. Launch Hypersync and select popcap and download database and all artwork etc.... (you may need to to create a folder for popcap in the media folder for it to work) 5. At this point you should have popcap setup in the emulators folder, a folder in media for popcap with artwork, media\main menu\images\wheel should have a popcap wheel .png 6. I also recommend searching hyperspin downloads and getting themes etc at this point 7. Next launch HyperHQ Click on Main Menu Wizard Add new menu item (name it PopCap) With sub menu 8. In HyperHQ go to wheel setting and choose PopCap that you just created Execution = Normal PC Game = Enabled Executable = leave blank Rom Path = C:Hyperspin\Emulators\PopCap\Roms\ Params = leave blank Extentions = lnk Use Full Path to Roms = enabled Search Subfolders = enabled Exit out of hyperhq Launch Hyperspin and you should be good to go If I left anything out please let me know so I can update it was a lot to remember.
brolly Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 So you set Execution to normal and then you go on about HyperLaunch and modules? You aren't using HL at all so everything from step 9 on is irrelevant...
craiganderson Posted June 22, 2014 Posted June 22, 2014 i have not worked on this "system" but thank you for taking the time to put this together welcome to the forum craig http://craigandersonthemes.weebly.com/
tonycawa Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 I agree about not using hyperlaunch but i did it just to be on the safe side. If im not correct a module is required so it knows what to do. Tried it few other ways and you get all kinds of errors. All I know is that this worked for me.
tonycawa Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 If somebody wants to try this and leave out steps 9 and on and post if it worked or not that would be helpful.

No it's not, if you don't use HyperLaunch, modules aren't used you can safely delete that module folder and things will still work. Your steps 9 onwards also go against the officially supported module structure so I don't advice anyone to make those changes there's no need to be renaming modules and moving them around that will only bring you issues in the long run.
tonycawa Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Thanks for the update brolly, ill edit the post to remove those steps.
thecolortech Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 Brilliant bypass rocket launcher perfect Im so bloody dumb Works flawless Thank you Now go grow back the hair i pulled out
gigapig Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 This is a great simple guide Tony, it would be good to see it in the guides section of the forum. Check out Iggy's guidelines and let us know what you want to do. It would need to be labeled as not using RocketLauncher so people know. Thanks.

Bonoscot Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 So conflicting reports on this....Do you follow the ops post? Its before RL though was released though? So since people are using it via RL, do you use the Casual games module or the PCLauncher module? I was using the PCLauncher setup (like my PCgames) setup the exe....but it still doesnt launch

Bonoscot Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 so do i just default everything back to its original status relating to popcap in RL?
gigapig Posted December 16, 2015 Posted December 16, 2015 so do i just default everything back to its original status relating to popcap in RL? As long as you don't launch it from RL then you can leave it as is.
rastan Posted December 17, 2015 Posted December 17, 2015 thanks for this thread.. i was just setting up PopCap after getting the games with all the ARTWORK/VIDEO... everything was going until I forgot a few things on the command line side... like setting the path in HyperHQ. up and running now

astrothug Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 oh by the way, Im using the newest rocket launcher and hyperspin... http://davidsarcade.wordpress.com
mkillinder Posted May 23, 2016 Posted May 23, 2016 I'm suffering the same thing astro. I tried to remove any setting in RL. I set up HyperHQ as instructed above but enter doesn't work when I try to launch the game. It never launches.... I don't know if RL is trying to launch it first which since it has no paths it does nothing.....
