Play multiple intro videos: randomizer

Hi, I found this on emumovies by tempest. I got it to run, it created an ini but I'd like to launch this upon starting hyperspin so that it plays one of 5 intro videos upon starting hyperspin at random so it's a new start up each time. The instructions say I could create a batch file to do this but there isn't an example. Does anyone know what that batch file would look like in order to make this work?

I can't believe I got this to work, as it's not exactly for the lay person or it's not very well explained; so I'll try.

So create a folder in :\HyperSpin\Media\Frontend\Video Called "Intros" and fill it with the intro videos you want to use and name them "Intro 1" "Intro 2" etc.

Download the Randomiser and put it in your Hyperspin folder, or it will work anywhere.

Run it and you will be asked for the file you want to Randomise, so point point to you original Intro.flv file in :\HyperSpin\Media\Frontend\Video.

It will next ask you for the location of the folder with all the Intro videos you created in the 1st step, point to it.

Next select the settings you want to use, my original file is already in this folder so I haven't checked the add original box.

click Save.

Now, for some reason the program starts again, maybe because you can set another random instance but I just closed the program at this point.

So in the ini file that it creates I have this, but you don't need to worry about it.

Next fire up hyperHQ and click the Startup/Exit tab.

In the exit program field point to the randomizer exe.

In the Parameters field type "1" without the quotes.

If you created more than one randomization you need to type in the numbers of how many, so if you made 3 you would type "1|2|3" again without the quotes.

Now close HyperHQ and start HyperSpin. On first run it will show the original video but next time you run it the video will change.

I recommend backing up your original Intro.flv as I think it may get swapped out depending how this is setup.

Amazing, I knew u would figure it out. I was at the ini part and it came up a second time and I got confused! I'll try this tonight, I only used the randomizer once but I have 5 videos. In the ini do I just use 1 or do I do the 1|2 etc through 5?

Cool. However, for me I don't use an intro video to start HS. I'm more interested in having the SYSTEM intro's randomized (Mame,Atari, etc). Plus I use ledblinky and those startup/exit tabs already have ledblinky stuff in them. Perhaps more than 1 program can be loaded with them. I never tried, but thanks for figuring this out! Maybe with this there is hope to randomize the system intros?

You can use the hyperspin startup script to start more than one program.

Im tempted to have this for main wheel vids too. I like using good TV ads to show off the systems and how cheesy many of them are. I love the Segata Sanshiro ads for the saturn... ultimat cheeeese!! Many of the systems have a great collection of games. I also like the idea of choosing some of he best games and using the official trailers for them too if the ads are low quality. Having the option of showing lots at random could be tempting... although I think this maybe days of work

If you love some commercials then check this little project and Vindic8rs' and Visitor Qs' folders on the Emumovies ftp. That'll keep you busy.

pow pow it works! note that it only works if the randomizer folder is in the hyperspin root folder for me.

Now if you all are froggy, see if you can get the app figured out in my other thread to display the genres for your main menu and descriptions

Managed to get this working, thanks for the tut Giga! Though it wasn't until after I had it working, did I find out that keltoigael took his videos down. Hopefully it won't be too long until he gets his site up and running.

the program crashes on me....i'm running windows 8.1....anyone else having this problem?

Scratch that....just got it working....rigged it up, but working... now just gotta get better quality intros....
