Rain Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 Just an update Getting ready to release Quick MAME to the world, see post #1 to read the release notes! New version up, download link in post #1! Enjoy!
Rain Posted December 18, 2011 Author Posted December 18, 2011 Just thought that I'd let you know I plan on doing a few minor bug changes over the next few days. I am also working on new language packs for the application as well. Thanks guys!
Rain Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 Released a few minor bug patches. Quick MAME will catch them the next time you run the app. Has anybody out there ran into any UAC issues running the program. I received an automated error submission report saying privilages were not suffecient? Just curious.
jeepguy81 Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 No UAC issues for me, tried it last night for a new compile and got no executable in the end. Seemed to be hanging up on applying the update .diff's. It was pretty late so I didn't look to much more into it, but I will be a bit more detailed when I try tonight. Also, has the option to chooose which update diff you want to apply been removed, didn't seem to be an option. - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
whiLd Posted December 19, 2011 Posted December 19, 2011 I also got no executables. Sent from my DROIDX using Tapatalk .:whiLd:. View HyperSpin Apps for featured HyperSpin 3rd party apps, and app news. To view my cabinet build album, click here
Rain Posted December 19, 2011 Author Posted December 19, 2011 Thanks guys, I'll look into that when I'm finished working on the Minecraft utility. Thanks for the heads up!
Ptaz Posted December 20, 2011 Posted December 20, 2011 Hey Guys, Can this now compile MAMEUI .139 x64? thanks,
aupton Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I have the same problem. The compilation process completes, but the output directory defined in settings gets deleted. leaving it at the default doesn't produce a linked executable either and the touch upon completion doesn't help. I'm attempting to compile an x86_64 AMD64 Dual Core binary on an x86 Intel P4 system. Obviously this wouldn't execute on the P4, but should compile just fine for transfer to the appropriate system. Please let me know if I should enable debugging and or capture some logs if it would help debug the process further.
whiLd Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 I got it to work. apparently there were a few updates for quick mame I had to do. I did one update after the initial download, then tried to compile nit noticing that the update button was still highlighted as if had another download. ran the update again, then compiled and it worked like a charm! thanks Rain! Rain Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 No problem whiLd, I am glad that the program started working for you! Any of the problems with missing files, folders or not compiling are all coming from the final stages in the MAME compiling procedurre when CPLUS is attempting to link files but it was not granted superuser permissions by Windows. You could always disable UAC, but I hope to get around these security issues very shortly. I am glad at least one person has found use out of this program thus far! Thanks for playing!
Rain Posted December 21, 2011 Author Posted December 21, 2011 I plan on releasing another update patch very soon to resolve some of the finer issues. Ooops, I accidently reset the worldwide compiles variable on the server! Right now I am also running around much like a chicken with it's head cut off working on a Minecraft utility that will help people out who constantly screw with their Minecraft world, but that's up on another forum. Anyhow, thanks guys for all of the feedback. Just to touch on a real quick question, will this program compile older versions of MAME? The short answer is no. I decided to back away from that project as it was just to damned time consuming, thousands upon thousands of variables and trying to compensate for every machines specific build was a nightmare. I am pretty much just focused in on allowing users to compile newer model MAME builds at this point in time, but who knows what the future holds.
Hypnoziz Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Ooops, I accidently reset the worldwide compiles variable on the server! I checked earlier today...around 4:00pm (PST). It was 330 if I remember correctly. Add the 7 you have as of now and that brings you to 337. Add 1000 more and you have yourself quite an epic number. <em class='bbc'>"But does one ever truly have a choice? akiles500 Posted December 21, 2011 Posted December 21, 2011 Rain I have compiled mame with your program but I have a problem. When the compilation process completes, the output directory defined in settings has dissapear and the executable I can find them. Can you fix that issue?
Rain Posted December 26, 2011 Author Posted December 26, 2011 I am not sure, I will reset Quick Mame once the servers are all back online. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, I was not able to reproduce the error though. But rest assured I will have a deep hard look into the code.
dave197878 Posted December 26, 2011 Posted December 26, 2011 Great program! Is there any option to compile older versions of mame in the latest release of quick mame?
jeepguy81 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 That feature has been removed. Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk - Vertical-Cocktail Cab Theme Project
Ranman Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Everything compiled ok using a win 7 i5 64 bit and an amd athlon 64 dual core. I changed no settings except added hi-score patch.
RodentVienna Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Okay translators, I posted the translation file on Pastebin, if you could just copy this and reupload to pastebin (with the translations under the English version) I would appreciate it. Here is the linkhttp://pastebin.com/gAHvV3uv there you go. one comment about one string, all others are translatable flawlessly. GERMAN: http://pastebin.com/Y7xE0W9y I don't care about including my name or not. would care much more about patch inclusion for enabling SH3 good luck rgds alex
dave197878 Posted December 27, 2011 Posted December 27, 2011 Why is there no Mame64 bit option? I see you can compile in 64 bit but you can't compile the Mame64 version. Unless I am missing something. I am new to Mame but wouldn't you want a 64bit Mame if you have a 64 bit processor and windows? Thanks.

When you compile in 64bit mode the output is MAME64 (i.g. a 64bit version.)

What is SH3?
aupton Posted December 29, 2011 Posted December 29, 2011 Rain, I disabled UAC on my Win7 box and the compilation process still doesn't produce an executable. No errors reported. I'll install QuickMame on my cab box which is xp 64 to see if that works better.

I'll install QuickMame on my cab box which is xp 64 to see if that works better. I have tried and tried to reproduce this error, but thus far I have had no luck as of yet. I am pretty sure that it has something to do with the linking processes involved with GCC. Right now I am kind of biding my time and waiting for the MAME developers to get with the times and start using GCC 4.6+ for their toolchain. Sorry about any issues you have had.
