jboyette7 Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 eager to try, but what do I do with folder when it is done compiling
Rain Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 eager to try, but what do I do with folder when it is done compiling Until I build the cleanup routine you will have to manually remove the OBJ, SRC folders. Also you can delete all of the *.diff files that are in the folder. After doing that just copy what remains to a new folder, and there ya' have it - compiled Mame. Can anybody confirm the High Score patch is working?
HyphyCus Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 Quick question. Once it is done, where is the compile at? I thought it would be under My Documents\HyperMAME\completed_builds?
Rain Posted October 30, 2011 Author Posted October 30, 2011 Quick question. Once it is done, where is the compile at? I thought it would be under My Documents\HyperMAME\completed_builds? Right now if all went well you will find it in Documents\HyperMame\Archives\#buildnumber#\ I will be adding cleanup routines in later versions of the application.,

keno21176 Posted October 30, 2011 Posted October 30, 2011 I just grabbed the latest service version to give it a whirl and while its doing its compile thing, I wanted to send a note of thanks to Rain for making this awesome utility. Very nice job with the interface and the way most (if not all) stuff auto-downloads and auto-installs. Not that compiling with Mame Compiler was difficult, but it was kind of tedious , everything needed to be in exactly the right location, etc. This program is so streamlined, it almost seems like its going to be declared "illegal" . (I admire+respect the mamedevs, but they are uber touchy about ppl messing with their official builds) thanks again K

Otherwise, I hope they are cool with it. Thanks for your comment and your support.
Rain Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 Update 10.31.2011 I will be doing some major changes to the program starting in the morning. Please be aware that during this time the application will become very unstable and all users are advised not to download nor run the application until further notice. You can expect alot more functionality within the program starting tomorrow as well. The auto detect button will finally gain life, as well as the cleaning routines. I am getting really close to being able to call HyperMame a release canidate. However, please do bear in mind that minor bugs may always exsist. HyperMame despite the easy to use interface is a brutally complex application on the code level. There are thousands of lines of code that check, cross check and work together to acheive a common goal - and that is to compile the appropriate Mame version based upon what a user selects. With over 210 functions, 100 string variables and about a dozen or so hardware calls, sometimes minor bugs manage to slip through the debugging process. That is why I have chosen to include automatic error reporting into HyperMame. About automatic error reporting. Automated error reporting will automatically notify me of errors that occur in all builds of HyperMame. This information is very valuable to a developer such as I, as it helps me track down errors and fix them. I do know that privacy is paramount for all users that is why I am making this public announcement regarding this matter. The information collected during an error, or crash will be able to pinpoint errors at the code level without exposing the application owners personal information. The type of information that is collected during an error dump is as follows: The users processor type. Amount of physical memory. Current operating system. What was happening moments before a triggered error. The nature of the error. The line number in which the error was thrown. Whether the error was minor, or fatal. A screenshot of the current HyperMame window (only the program, desktop screenshot will not be exposed.) I hope that you all do not think I am crazy for wanting to collect such information, but please understand that I can never guarantee a stable application such as this without volumes, and volumes of error bugs. You will also be given the option of reviewing error details, and a full submission report will be saved as well. HyperMame has really come a long way since the beginning. When this project first started I had serious doubts that it would ever make it quite this far into the development process. However, it has and I could not be more pleased with the outcome thus far. I would really like to thank each and every one of you whom has tested it, suffered through the bugs and seen this program through the development process. I just hope that everybody gets good use of this application, and that it serves the general public well. Now, I know on the grand scheme of things HyperMame is minor compared to other programs that are currently out there but to me, it is very special. It has been a real challenge and a great introduction into the world of programming for Microsoft Windows (coming from the world of Linux.) I would like to also thank everybody out there whom has donated their time and attention to the application as well. From a donated server that host the core files needed to run as well as dynamically update HyperMame, to the Master Computer that HyperMame runs on (yeah, you all get signals from this machine, it tells your HyperMame what to do and how to do it!) Also I would like to thank the creators of the wonderful artwork that now gives HyperMame a very unique look and feel. So, the next time that I post here HyperMame will be a release canidate and we will be able to compile our Mame with the clicks of a few buttons. Thanks again everybody! -Ronald L. Harsh

evil eye Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 This is brilliant work. I was able to compile .141 on my own with hi score support but this program will make my life easier on the next update. Thanks for making this happen, can't wait to try it with the next official release! I hope the devs don't complain about no nag/hi score. It's a must!
djvj Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I hope the devs don't complain about no nag/hi score. It's a must! And if they do, who cares? keno21176 Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 I was going to post about an issue with no exe file being generated in the complete_build folder despite a (seemingly) successful compile (ie no error msgs), on 2 different pc, but I think I'll just wait till next service release and try again then. Also, Rain, I like to make a suggestion that you give an indication (tooltip or balloon or whatever) as to whether "computer specification" refers to the machine that you are doing the compile on, or the machine that you want to run the compiled exe on. since often these are not the same machine. thanks K

Though in most cases both will be one and the same.
Rain Posted October 31, 2011 Author Posted October 31, 2011 Update for Atom Users: Mame 0.143u9 High Score Enabled Okay, so before I give the go ahead and include Atom support into HyperMame I am calling on any users with an Intel Atom processor to download a test build of Mame 0.143u9 w/High Score to see how it runs. Now, before you go getting your hopes up please keep in mind that this optimizes on the code level only. Certain graphic, sound and other functions probably will not be affected dramatically. To run a test if you would please run a game in which you may have difficulty running with your current Mame build, and then run it with this Mame build. Look for any changes, such as framerate, sound issues and so forth. As far as I know this is the only version of Mame you will find that has been optimized for Atom processors. We cannot go back and optimize older versions of Mame for these processors, it just won't work. However, anything newer than Mame 0.142 can be built using the atom platform. So, feel free to check it out and let me know what you think! Compiling this toolchain was a major pain but I hope that it works out okay. Download Mame for Atom Processors Now!
njay Posted October 31, 2011 Posted October 31, 2011 Thx rain for the trouble, I am busy at the moment but will test this tommorow afternoon will report back and thanks again My Mini Pin Build: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5622 My Arcade Bartop Build: http://www.hyperspin-fe.com/forum/showthread.php?t=14570

njay Posted November 2, 2011 Posted November 2, 2011 Hey Rain, I have tested the atom build against a normal build And i see no increase in speed. Ki2 still stutters like crazy on the sound but the picture moves fast and ok MK1 until umk3 also have stuttering sound same as pbobble2 to solve this i had to revert back mame 0.89 specially for these games Both the normal mame version as have the atom version the same sound issues thanks for building it though !!
