Yeah, if that source ever gets touched once - and a build fails you will have to start the compiling (by redownloading new source, or selecting clean compile.) I'm glad it works! :D

Your welcome, it has been my honor to program such a pain in the ass application lol!

To answer your question, no you cannot compile MAME UI, there is currently no way that this can be done. If you want to compile MAME UI then I would suggest you try out some of the other MAME compilers out there, or compile by hand. This is not to say that someday I might not expand Quick MAMES capabilities beyond what they currently are and add that feature in but I am so tired now, and have no plans to do so within the next few days.

I really want the current version of MAME UI to become standardized, and have a lot of clean compiles built before I dig back into an already fragile source code. However, I will let you know just as soon as I add that capability into Quick MAME. Thanks for your comment! :D

thanks Rain for your quick Reply

Your most welcome! - Wow! The number of compiles has doubled overnight, that must mean Quick MAME is doing it's job somewhat! Has anybody been able to compile the trunk (root) build of MAME?

Did any of you use QuickMame to add Cave support back in? It seems to not want to work for me. In the latest update Rain suggested not doing so as it would break the compile which it seems to do haha

I tried after updating QM, and I still got stuck at patch.exe. I even erased mingw & src directory & redownloaded, but still stuck at patch.exe. I am using NO external packages this time. I have these options checked: disable warnings as errors, direct input, clean compile, display terminal, build from root & enable hiscore

Just to note - I moved quickmame from my D: drive to my C: drive, and UNchecked enable direct input and it got past the patch.exe window & is now compiling

Yeah, a few times when I tried different settings it got past the patch.exe part but didn't compile an exe either. That was with the Cave patch.

It seems enable directinput must be unchecked for it to even compile, but still no exe. I'll keep trying to figure it out. In the meantime, if anyone happens to compile a .144 (root), 64x, amd 64, dual core & can send it my way I'd appreciate it :tee:

RAIN - if there is anything I could do to help diagnose some issues i'd be glad to help

i could get it to compile once. on 2nd attempt i was left with a blank cmd-window labeled "c:\mingw\mingw64-w64\bin\patch.exe"

system running w7-64bit, cpu: core2duo e8400.

as i said, it compiled once, when not using any diff patches.

second compile try was using 2 patches.

please advise, using v 1.0.0.7

thanks

If u want to compile it with cave I suggest u do it with .05, u will have some complications with .07, I only got it to work once with .07. I've made several compiles with .05 when i was testing it for myself. Thanks Again to Rain for his outstanding job on QM. man I hated waiting for someone out there to update mame so I could Dl it, Now I can doit my self [YAAY ME!!!]

Infinity Thanks Rain!! you is the MEN!! congratulations for you mind =)

LoL, thanks! :D And guys, just to remind you - don't talk about compiling MAME w/cave games driver enabled here on this thread (or I will have to remove that function from the app.) I don't need the MAME devs breathing down my neck; so take it to a golden thread or something. Anyhow, thanks for all the great comments - I really appreciate it!

I'm new to all this compiling stuff, and will attempt my first in the next hour using quick mame.

My questions are, where do i get external packages?

and,

Is no nag screens a external package? that's the one option i want that i don't see a check box for.

Thx,

:bootyshake:I finally got it. 3 compiles, all different configs, all worked! I don't know why it wasn't working because I did the same setting. Anyways, it worked with additional packages & all mkchamp settings are there. One question though......

I have an AMD Athlon 64 x2 so I compiled using AMD 64, dual core, & 64 bit enabled. Was this the correct choice or should I have chosen AMD Athlon XP?
